Last month, Johnny Depp gave a drunk speech at the Hollywood Film Awards that had fans of the actor concerned for his health and wellbeing.
In the weeks since, rumors circulated that Depp's boozing had begun to put a strain on his relationship with fiancee Amber Heard.
Sources claimed Depp's drinking was "driving Amber away," and that the 28-year-old actress had threatened to leave Depp if he didn't seek treatment.
Now, however, an unlikely dissenting voice is turning the tables and claiming - somewhat ridiculously - that Amber is, in fact, the cause of Depp's drinking, and that ending their engagement is the best thing Heard could do for the 51-year-old star.
Vanessa Paradis is Depp's former girflriend and the mother of his two children. The French actress has reportedly had nothing good to say about Heard in the wake of Johnny's latest humiliation, and sources say she's doing everything she can to convince Depp to dump his young fiancee.
"Vanessa's convinced Amber's not mature or tough enough to deal with Johnny's drinking," a source tells the National Enquirer.
The insider adds that seeing Depp "slurring and swaying" during the HFAs was "a nightmare" for Paradis.
"It burns Vanessa to see him making such a fool of himself," says the source. "She blames Amber for his mid-life crisis."
According to the latest round of rumors, Paradis may have gotten her wish, as several tabloids have reported that it's over between Depp and Heard.
