Ever since the first trailer for Lucy hit the Internet back in April, we've been eagerly awaiting the Luc Besson-helmed sci-fi/action flick.
After all, it features Scarlett Johansson as a super human drug mule. How can it not be awesome?
Lucy finally hits theaters today, and we're happy to report that reviews have been mostly positive, though some critics apparently found the premise and over-the-top shoot-'em-up scenes to be too ridiculous to take seriously.
Here's what the taste-makers are saying:
"An outlandishly entertaining mixture of high silliness and high style." - David Edelstein
"A sci-fi yarn that ponders the meaning of time and the importance of evolution while occasionally throwing in some shootouts." - James Berardinelli
"Besson thrives on this sort of baloney, and his enthusiasm can be infectious." - Kurt Loder
"Lucy is constantly playful and awestruck. Besson genuinely seems moved by the capacity of humans to do good." - Jeffrey M. Anderson
Shootouts and philosophical musings? Sounds like a Matrix-y good time. Sign us up! Besides, Scarlett Johansson is pregnant, so who knows how long it will be until we get to see her in full badass mode again?
