Has Simon Cowell been having an affair with his married baby-mama-to-be, Lauren Silverman, since 2009? That’s the allegation of a new Us report.
Though her pregnancy blindsided Cowell, and Lauren and Andrew Sullivan were estranged, a source claims the two have been getting it on for years.
“Lauren has loved Simon forever,” says a source close to the NYC socialite, mom to 7-year-old son Adam. “And they started having an affair four years ago.”
It began as a fling, but the baby changed that. Simon may or may not be a home-wrecker, as Andrew Sullivan claims he is, but he’s committed now.
“Simon and Lauren are together,” says a Silverman family source.
“They talk 100 times a day.”
Cowell’s kinship with both Andrew and Lauren Silverman began innocently in 2004 when he befriended the newlyweds at Barbados’ Sandy Lane resort.
Soon, they were often spotted on the music mogul’s yacht. Says an insider, “Lauren and her husband would even stay in Simon’s guesthouse in L.A.”
Meanwhile, the Silvermans were unraveling. “The marriage was not made in heaven,” Lauren’s mom, Carole Saland, tells the celebrity gossip magazine.
The couple bickered constantly, say sources. Adds a Lauren pal, “Andrew always went on trips without her. She felt he treated her like garbage.”
Lauren, 36, turned to Cowell, 53, and while the hookups were sporadic at first, by January 2013, the relationship got serious and she got a divorce lawyer.
Andrew, 37, a co-owner of Panama’s Veneto Hotel & Casino, filed for divorce in July, citing adultery and naming Cowell as a co-respondent in the papers.
Cowell has yet to comment on the scandal beyond saying: “I would love to, but I have to respect a lot of people’s feelings. I really have to be sensitive.”
