Last week, Lauren Conrad attended the Avon Hope Honors Benefit on behalf of the m.powerment campaign, her philanthropic initiative with mark cosmetics.

The former star of The Hills opted for a retro look, reminiscent of Rita Hayworth and Veronica Lake, showing off a polished complexion and a velvety finish.

We like the subtle rosy glow, and the fact that unlike so many stars of today, who opt for the same, revealing appearance, LC keeps it both classy and sexy.

It seems like that would be a contradiction in terms, but we think she pulls it off.

L.A. Candy is loosely based on The Hills. Only it's supposed to be fake.

As great hair goes, it's hard to top natural beauties (and SoCal natives) Blake Lively and Lauren Conrad. But both have departed from their signature looks of late.

Inspired by Conrad's vivid Mara Hoffman dress at last week's Hollywood Style Awards, stylist Byron Williams gave the former star of The Hills some "boho braids."

Last month, Frederic Fekkai stylist Renato Campora used the line's products to turn Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively into a modern day goddess at the Emmys.

That is some ponytail, Blake! Wonder how long that took to do.

Whose hairstyle do you like better?

It's been a big week for Lauren Bosworth.

She and her castmates were thrust back into the spotlight, as a new season of The Hills premiered on MTV.

Meanwhile, the reality star turned 23 and celebrated the occasion at Mi-6, a Hollywood night club named after the British Secret Intelligence Service.

Meant to conjure up cool, sleek images of James Bond, we're not entirely sure if Lo and Lauren Conrad would qualify as Bond girls. But the latter was on hand to help her pal celebrate.

LC also has a reason to pop champagne this week: her debut novel will be turned into a movie.

L.A. Candy, which is based on the real life of a girl-turned-reality-star-turned author will eventually hit the big screen. It's like art imitating life imitating art again... or something.

Lauren Conrad may have retired from reality TV, but that doesn't mean she's left her friends from The Hills behind. She and former co-star Whitney Port reunited onstage - and looked fabulous - as presenters on last week's VH1 Divas.

Asked to name the biggest diva she knew, LC didn't hesitate.

"Whitney Port?" Lauren joked, after which her taller, NYC transplant counterpart responded with a laugh, "I was just going to say Lauren Conrad."

Kidding aside, Lauren may not be keen on tuning into the new-look season of The Hills, but she is very excited for the premiere of Whitney's The City.

"She'll support me," Whitney Port said of Lauren.

The ladies talked about how they had a hard time adjusting to working with PR guru Kelly Cutrone, who complicates Whitney's life in the new season.

Whitney said she thinks her friend had even scarier encounters with Cutrone than she has. "I feel like you [had a harder time] because you had to meet her in that really awkward position at the runway show," Port said to Conrad.

"She's been kind of like a den mother to me," Whit added of her boss, who will be featured on The City. "She's been really, really great. I have no complaints."

"You know there are Devil Wears Prada situations, but it's a love-hate relationship. She has to be strict because that's the way she gets her business done."

Port also recently shared with us some of the "empowering" advice she got from another one of her mentors, celebrity fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.

"Diane taught me a lot about empowering myself as a woman, and in my relationship world, she taught me a lot about appreciating and putting myself first."

This isn't the first time we've seen a star picking up trash in the past week. It's the first time it wasn't the result of a felony assault conviction, however.

While her former co-stars gear up for the new season of The Hills, the lovely Lauren Conrad lent and hand and picked up trash at Santa Monica Beach.

The best-selling author and reality TV retiree took part in Kohl's Department Store's "Clean Up" this weekend. LC's working with Kohl's on a new line.

Lauren Conrad makes even the most unappealing task look fun.

Earlier this week, we pitted Lauren Conrad against Whitney Port in a VMA fashion face-off after the glamorous twosome hit the annual MTV insane-o-fest.

Now the BFFs and former co-stars have come together again at the 2009 VH1 Divas special event at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City.

Neither is known for disappointing fans with her style choices, so it comes as little surprise that both gals sparkled as usual. But who looked better?

Who's the more glamorous VH1 diva?

Despite rumors that she's itching to get back on MTV, despite the fact she was dying to get off it, two reality shows really were enough for Lauren Conrad.

In Touch recently reported that MTV has offered the former Laguna Beach and The Hills star a Newlyweds-style show if she and Kyle Howard tie the knot.

"No," Conrad said Wednesday when asked if the report was true.

Little room for misinterpretation there.

Lauren, who attended Nanette Lepore's NYC fashion show last night in New York, said it's been nice not having the cameras follow her every move.

She says that she probably won't even watch the new season of The Hills, which starts September 29 and now stars former rival Kristin Cavallari.

"When you've been a part of a show, it's different," Lauren Conrad said.

"It takes the entertainment factor out of it."

One stars on Gossip Girl, the other quit The Hills in part because of the gossipy spread by Speidi (those losers).Both wore the same top to the same fashion show!

Faux pas or just plain gorgeous?
