Mel Gibson is kind of a d!ck. You never know who he's going to offend next, which poses problems for his publicist, who's gotta be working OT these days.

The actor's longtime rep, Alan Nierob, came up with an explanation only slightly more believable than this weatherman's for Mel's recent interview gaffe.

At the end of a TV interview yesterday, Mel became annoyed over a Chicago reporter's questions and, as he signed off, blatantly called him an a$$hole.

Or so we think, says his rep. Nierob claims he was "pulling faces" during the interview and Gibson called him the asshole, not that bastard TV reporter.

Never mind that Mel was still looking at the camera and the interview ended just seconds earlier. Just your standard off-screen client-publicist banter!

Good job, publicist! Way to cover for me, a$$hole!

Not a bad job by Nierob. If only we all had a PR "cleaner" to come up with bogus explanations and fire them off to media outlets every time we screwed up.

Sometimes they even try to claim paternity of your illegitimate children while you're running for President of the United States, too. Right, Andrew Young?

Mel Gibson did not take too kindly to questioning from a Chicago TV reporter yesterday and hurled an insult at him once he thought the camera was off.

It was not.

A frustrated Mel was on WGN-TV promoting his new film, Edge of Darkness, but kept being hit with questions about ... well, you knew it would come up.

Asked about his drunk, anti-Semitic rampage from 2006 and whether he thinks people view him differently, Mel grew increasingly annoyed via satellite.

After an awkward minute or so, the WGN reporter wrapped up the interview with the actor, told folks to see Mel's movie, and that appeared to be that.

Until Mel, apparently thinking the interview was over, took a swig of his coffee and called the guy an "asshole." Seriously. It's amazing. Check it out:

As if his unrequited, unsolicited support for Tiger Woods weren't strange enough, Mel Gibson tried (in vain) to defend his 2006 meltdown again this week.

Mel's blatant anti-semitic rampage at the Malibu police station after his arrest for drunk driving became one of the top celebrity scandals of the decade.

But, while promoting his new movie, Edge of Darkness, Gibson said that people should just let it go. Which they might if he didn't keep downplaying it.

"It’s said that I went into a rant, but I think it went on for about five words," he said. "I was drunk. It just turned into a big thing. I apologized - not once, three times. So what’s the problem? It’s four years ago. Do I need to apologize again?”

For the record, it was most definitely a rant.

"F--king Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world" is more than five words. The many times he called police officers "motherf*%ker" and "sugar t!ts" while proclaiming "I own Malibu" and trying to break $h!t also add up.

This isn't to say Mel doesn't deserve forgiveness. Sure he does. But we don't get the feeling he thinks he was wrong in the first place, which might help.

Similar to the "he's human" defense of Tiger, who slept with scads of women he wasn't married to, the "I was drunk" defense doesn't cut it here, Mel.

Amazingly, he should consider taking a page from the Michael Vick school of PR and profusely apologize, sincerely, until people simply get tired of it.

Tiger Woods should hire Mel Gibson as his personal PR guy.

For the second time in as many weeks, the actor has seen fit to run to the golfer's aid, unprovoked. Tiger's mistresses had better watch out, too, because it seems like Mel is developing serious feelings for the world's #1 golfer.

"So, you know, I love the guy. He's full of flaws, like all the rest of us. And he's going through a rough time," Gibson told Good Morning America Monday.

"I feel bad for the guy, I mean, they're beating the hell out of him."

Tiger may be in sex addiction rehab after balling more than a dozen waitresses while married and having two little kids, but to Mel, that's easy to get past:

He's only human, after all.

Mel Gibson loves talking about Tiger Woods for some reason.

"Ask any human being walking on the planet, 'Have you ever done anything that you're not proud of?'" the Edge of Darkness star posited. "And I think most people will say, 'Yes. I've done a few things I'm not too proud of.'"

Well, yeah. But does that give you license to do whatever you want and say you're only human after? Or make you immune from public criticism somehow?

Fortunately, Mel broke down the Tiger Woods scandal, in all its sordid and incredibly dubious detail, into one simple statement that no one can argue with:

"Jeez, I just want to watch him play golf. I want to see him swing a club, man."

Okay, Mel, we're with you on that. Ever since Thanksgiving, when Elin Woods did the swinging, we've missed Tiger on the links. Come back soon, man.

Mel Gibson is upset about the Tiger Woods scandal. Not because Woods cheated on his wife - adulterers gotta stick together! - but with the extensive coverage.

"I feel sorry for Tiger Woods," Mel told the Daily Mail (UK).

"Why are we talking about this when we're sending 30,000 troops to Afghanistan? You have this history-changing event going on and we're talking about Tiger's private life? He's being used as a diversion and it drives me crazy. I just think, 'Who cares?'"

EDITOR'S NOTE: Mel, you're an idiot. This asinine argument would only make sense if ABC World News led with Tiger's mistresses and not war. It does not.

Like the movies that made Mel a vast fortune, celebrity gossip is an entertainment form with a wide audience. Can people only talk about war at all times?

Of course not. People like to read gossip, and sorry, but the world's most famous athlete being involved in an enormous sex scandal does constitute news.

So does a jackass actor getting arrested for DUI, calling a female cop "sugar t!ts" and blaming all the world's problems on Jews. But that's beside the point.

Mel Gibson's got your back, Tiger.

Perhaps Mel just sympathizes with Tiger's marital drama after he split with his wife of 28 years, Robyn, last year. And knocked up mistress Oksana Grigorieva.

"When all's said and done, I did a pretty good hatchet job on my marriage," the Edge of Darkness star does admit. "I'm to blame, if you're inclined to judge."

He adds, "Nobody is without sin. You have to try to make amends. You have to shut up, move on and not whine about it. You have to deal with it like a man.

"Whatever fallout comes from it, be it fair or unfair, you've just got to accept your own culpability," he says. "The minute you start whining, it's ridiculous."

That's good advice, and at least it's an honest assessment of the situation. Just don't expect websites not to call you out on your boorish behavior, M-dog.

Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva, his mistress and girlfriend, welcomed their first child together, daughter Lucia Anne, on October 30 in Los Angeles.

Boy is she cute.

The new mom told Britain's Hello! Magazine that Gibson, who has seven children (six sons and a daughter) with ex-wife Robyn, "is doting and nurturing."

Oksana Grigorieva, who also has a 12-year-old son, Alexander, with her ex, Timothy Dalton, says Lucia was 6 lbs. at birth and is putting on weight fast.

In August, she said that despite rumors of her being Mel's fiancee, she wasn't sure she and Gibson would actually wed: "We haven't really talked about it," she said.

"You don't control the situations or the people you meet. I did not plan this. I'm just doing what I've always been doing. It's not like I've changed my goals at all."

Oksana says her daughter is profoundly influencing her already.

"I'm speaking Russian and English and singing lullabies in both," she says. "She has been an inspiration already. I'm composing a children's song book."

The arrival of the first child for Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson (the actor's eight overall) has now been confirmed, and is bringing joy halfway around the world.

Contacted in Moscow, Lyudmilla Chernukha, mother of Gibson's girlfriend, who delivered their daughter, Lucia, Friday, last week tells People, "I'm delighted!"

And a little relieved. Chernukha admits the pregnancy was made difficult for her daughter a pianist and singer, by all the intense celebrity gossip attention.

"I'm very pleased for her because during her pregnancy she worried a lot because of all the bad press written about her. Lots and lots and lots of lies," she says.

We can't actually recall any lies. Plenty of criticism of devout Catholic Mel knocking Oksana Grigorieva up while married to the mother of his seven kids, but no lies.

Oksana Grigorieva's pregnancy was announced just a few weeks after her affair with Mel was made public and Gibson's wife of 30 years, Robyn, filed for divorce.

"Her pregnancy was a hard one even though she had no [medical] problems with it," says Chernukha. "Of course, Mel supported her and so did all of her friends."

Grigorieva, who also has a 12-year-old son, Alexander (pictured above) fathered by James Bond star Timothy Dalton, tries to stay out of the headlines if possible.

"She doesn't make any statements or get involved with refuting what's said about her. She just tries to keep her best to keep closed off from all the journalists."

The grandmother hopes her daughter and child will visit soon. Grigorieva told reporters of her plans to take Gibson and the baby back to her homeland next year.

"Russians are very nostalgic," she said.

She wasn't due for another few weeks, but reports say Mel Gibson’s girlfriend/fiance Oksana Grigorieva is said to have given birth to their baby - a girl.

Oksana Grigorieva gave birth Friday, a bit early but everything went well and both mom and daughter are doing just fine, according to Radar Online.

The website reports that mom and the baby are already home.

Mel’s affair with Oksana was uncovered earlier this year by celebrity gossip media after a series of photos of the cozy couple in Costa Rica surfaced.

This while Mel’s marriage was apparently dunzo.

Mel’s wife Robyn filed for divorce in April, 2009, shortly after the photos were public and Mel admitted he was romantically involved with Oksana Grigorieva.

Mel and Robyn were married 29 years; their marital assets are estimated at around $900 million. Currently, Mel says he has no plans to wed his baby mama.

Mel has six sons and one daughter with Robyn.

Oksana, a Russian singer and lingerie model, has a 12-year-old son with James Bond star Timothy Dalton. She is an accomplished musician and composer.

She released her album Beautiful Heartache in July.

Sometimes you gotta take your illegitimate baby's mama out to dinner.

Mel Gibson and his pregnant 39-year-old girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, who have been keeping their relationship on the DL since he cheated on his wife with her and knocked her up, were seen leaving Balthazar restaurant in SoHo last night.

Oksana recently said the two have no plans to marry.

They may be living in sin, but at least they're happy ...

It's been a good month so far for Mel, who recently had his epic DUI arrest expunged from his record and continues to spend QT with the mother of his future eighth child, while still technically married to the mother of the first seven.

It's now as if Mel Gibson's 2006 DUI arrest, which made for one of the more ridiculous stories in recent celebrity gossip memory, never even happened.

That's because Judge Lawrence Mira just signed legal documents in Malibu, Calif., expunging the misdemeanor DUI from the actor and director's record.

The judge noted the conviction still is relevant for "gun control purposes." It can also be used as a prior conviction if Gibson gets popped for DUI again.

Mel's lawyer, Blair Berk, requested the motion to dismiss on September 21 after Gibson successfully completed the terms of his three-year probation.

If you recall, Mel Gibson was pulled over for DUI, after which he was taken to a police station in what the cops called an arrest "without incident."

Later, a four-page report of the deputy's original notes were leaked, in which it was documented that Mel went on an insane anti-Semitic tirade.

In addition to saying Jews are to blame for the world's problems, he also tried to smash a pay phone and referred to a female cop as "sugar t!ts."

Mel pled no contest to misdemeanor DUI and was placed on three years probation. Gibson recently completed all the terms of said probation.

It's good that he can finally sort of put this behind him, and now he can prepare for the birth of his love child with Oksana Grigorieva in peace.
