Hilary Duff has opened up for the first time about her divorce from Mike Comrie.

The singer first announced a split from her hockey-playing husband in early 2014, but the couple attempted to make things work for nearly a year afterward.

However, Comrie was then caught trying to pay a waitress $600 for sex and Duff then decided she had had enough.

"I don’t want to sound bitter because I’m definitely not, but I don’t know if people are meant to be together forever," Duff tells Cosmopolitan.

"Things happen over a long relationship that you can’t always fight. A marriage of 20 years, the accomplishment of that must feel really great, but there are also huge sacrifices."

For sure. Like when your husband has to make the sacrifice of NOT offering a waitress $600 for sex.

Duff also tells the magazine that she has a celebrity crush (Charlie Hunnam!) and says she finds it really weird that ex-boyfriend Aaron Carter has pretty much been stalking her online.

"Him reaching out through social media? It’s ridiculous!" Duff says. "But then people do it all the time, like Chris Brown and [Karrueche Tran]?"

Whoa! Unexpected Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran diss! We love it!

"Come on, guys," Duff concludes. "Keep it between text messages."

There’s a lesson we all can heed.
