The Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special brought out nearly every big name in Hollywood last night, even Eddie Murphy, who had not appeared on that stage in three decades.

But there was a noticeable absence: due to the injuries sustained in a car accident last summer, Tracy Morgan could not attend the proceedings.

There’s a good chance Morgan never performs again.

Saturday Night Live Honors Tracy Morgan

But former 30 Rock co-stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin came out during the special to honor their friend.

"I wish my friend Tracy Morgan was here tonight, and I know that he was hoping he would be well enough to be here too," Fey said.

"If he were here tonight, I’m sure Tracy would remind us that more than anything, he’d like to get us all pregnant."

Feeling hopeful,Baldwin added: "See you at the 41st, Tracy."

The iconic NBC sketch comedy show then showed an old clip of Morgan during the Brian Fellow’s Safari Planet skit. Check it out above.

With his brain function possibly never able to return to normal, Morgan is facing an uncertain future following a crash in New Jersey last June that left a friend of the star’s dead.

Our thoughts go out to him.
