A wanted woman living who escaped from a Michigan prison 37 years ago was found living in San Diego, California, authorities reported Tuesday.

Judy Lynn Hayman, who identified herself as Jamie Lewis, was arrested after San Diego officers went to her home based on a tip from the Michigan Department of Corrections.

A woman fitting Hayman's description answered the door and produced government documents with the name Jamie Lewis, according to San Diego police Lt. Kevin Mayer.

Her eyes gave her away," Mayer said, following the long-overdue capture.

"The eyes in the picture matched the eyes of this woman."

Hayman, now 60 years old, famously escaped Ypsilanti prison in 1977 where she had served eight months of her sentence for attempted larceny.

She is currently being held in San Diego, awaiting extradition to Michigan.
