Smash Canceled By NBC, No One Surprised

Season 2 of Smash, which comes to an end May 26 in a two-hour finale, will also be its last. NBC canceled the series in a move that surprised no one.

The backstage Broadway drama, plagued by low ratings and creative infighting from the start, was officially put out to pasture by the network this morning.

Katharine McPhee on Smash

The Peacock pushed the show hard in the beginning, but to no avail. The inevitable cancelation was all but official after NBC moved Smash to Saturdays.

As such, it is not on the NBC 2013-14 schedule.

Despite the promise of the behind-the-scenes tale of a musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe, and all the drama therein, the show never caught on.

On the bright side, fans, you can still look at Katherine McPhee photos on THG. Those are anything but canceled, if you know what we're saying.

We have no idea what that means.
