Roy McDonald, N.Y. State Senator, on Gay Marriage Bill: F--k It, I'm In!

Republican State Sen. Roy McDonald is one of the few members of his party currently backing an initiative to legalize gay marriage in N.Y. State.

Today, in response to pressure from some conservatives opposed to the measure, McDonald gave a tremendous statement in his own defense.

According to the The N.Y. Daily News, the 64-year-old said THIS:

Sen. Roy McDonald

"You get to the point where you evolve in your life where everything isn't black and white, good and bad, and you try to do the right thing."

"You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, f--k it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing."

"I'm tired of Republican-Democrat politics. They can all take the job and shove it. I come from a blue-collar background."

"I'm trying to do the right thing. That's where I'm going with this."

Somewhere, former Super Bowl hero David Tyree is very upset.

McDonald's support for the potential gay marriage bill leaves it only ONE vote shy of having enough support to be made into New York State law.

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg - an outspoken gay marriage advocate - visited Albany today to try to persuade a handful of undecided senators.

Regardless of your political persuasion or stance on this issue, you gotta love a politician who will straight up defy the often-polarized system.

If only more had the guts to stand up and just say f--k it!

It's great to see the senator and the mayor stick up for their own kind.I'm sure Hillary Clinton will also be defending this cause.

And one mre thing.... wat really makes me laugh is these jokers (all of them) are cheating and caught up in so many ethics and sexual scandals u really cant even keep up wit it nemre but these ppl r going to be our moral compass? Oh pls the best way to see how crooked these politicans are is to look at how much they r worth. Most are worth millions... And believe me they dnt make close to that!!!! Mayb a lil ova 200 a yr where the hell do they get all this money from then... Oh thats right kickbacks for doing othas dirty wk and passing bills against the middle class. Keep it up and it wont be long be4 we r rioting like every otha country.

Im wit him about everything being so blk n white. Politicans need to realize that most ppl agree with both parties on different things. I wish mre would think outside the box like this instead of being so scared all the damn time! Imo and it may be off the wall but i dnt believe gay marriage, abortion, prostitution, or drugs should be a political issue. These things all have to do wit ur personal body and u should have the right to do as pleased. Sum may say these things bring crimes.... Well thats already happening. Othas think sum are moral issues... If we r really seperation between state n church then morals dnt really factor in either. Its a proven fact now the war on drugs has failed we need to switch to helping these ppl nt punishment. If they wnt no help then they can go to jail. Nt sayin the govmt needs to sell drugs but if u get caught sum of these drug charges r ridculous. As for gay marriage... It will happen and very soon!

I will never understand why some people think it's their business whom a concenting adult marries, as long as it's another concenting adult. Religions and Churches will never be required to accept or perform gay marriages (though I know some that do and good for them) what we are talking about is a legal right so they should have no say. Marriage, although it's usually thought of in terms of religion and the "joining" of two people, is, when you boil it down, a legal contract which has terms and requires things of both parties. Are people really going to say that only *some* adults may enter into a contract? Absurd. There was a time when the same arguements used against gay marriage were used against interracial marriage and also marriage of people of diffrent faiths. It's unnatural, not what God wants (who, BTW, gets to decide what God wants?) and will eat away at the moral fabric of society! It's just plain wrong, on and on those arguements went. It came down to the fact that som

If marriage equality doesn't pass this year, it will pass next year, or two years hence. It will pass. It is only matter of when.

DUH, WHY ALL THE "HATE" TOWARDS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH?

  7. DUH, WHY ALL "HATE" TOWARDS THE CAHOLIC CHURCH?

The Catholic Church has NO BUSINESS inserting itself into a state/civil matter. Yet, they are leading the charge against marriage equality. SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. Period, Amen, End of Story. Since this legislation does not impose gay marriage on religious organizations, they have NO BUSINESS weighing in on the matter, let alone having their objections be allowed to factor in to the debate. The Catholic Church, not the Religious Right, is the LEADER in opposing the rights and freedoms of gay people.

Im glad that hes vocal in his support of the Gay Marriage Initiative. Equality should be manditory, as should human rights. They need 1 more vote, just 1 more vote.

I don't understand where the hate towards the Catholic church is coming from. It's the religious right, not the Catholics who are usually liberal with the exception of abortion, who tend to be extremely anti-gay and anti-same sex marriage.
