Chelsea Handler Admits Having Abortion at 16, Slams Teen Mom and 16 & Pregnant
by Free Britney at .Lots of people are not fans of the Teen Mom phenomenon. Add Chelsea Handler to that list, and for some surprisingly personal reasons, she revealed.
The E! star described her own personal ordeal with teen pregnancy and the choice that changed her life in an interview with the New York Times.
“We need to be focusing on other things. We’re seeking out such grossness in human behavior and want such mindless entertainment," she says.
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta and some of these other shows are just racist. Or 16 and Pregnant. Getting rewarded for being pregnant when you’re a teenager? Are you serious? I mean, that makes me want to kill somebody.”
Chelsea Handler knows this situation personally, confessing that she was a pregnant teen who exercised her right to choose, which she's grateful she has.
“I had an abortion when I was 16. Because that’s what I should have done,” Chelsea blantantly states. “Otherwise I would now have a 20-year-old kid."
"Those are things that people shouldn’t be dishonest about.”
You have to hand it to the Handler. She does not mince words and is not shy about who she is, even if that means a lot of people won't like what she is.
Regardless of her view on the issue of choice, do you think Chelsea makes a point that teen pregnancy being too glamorized? Discuss in the comments ...

The cavalier comments by Chelsea Handler (whoever she is, never heard of her) illustrates the little value we place on human life. “I had an abortion when I was 16. "Because that’s what I should have done,” Chelsea blantantly states. “Otherwise I would now have a 20-year-old kid." Honestly, you should have not slept with the guy, THAT'S what you should have done. Murdering a child isn't something anyone should choose to do and hail it as something that bettered your life. To own up to the mistake and move forward, THAT is what makes for a decent person. This isn't about the TV shows. This is about morals, and sadly, few exist and when faced with consequences, people like Ms. Handler opt for the easy way out. If you fancy yourself some kind of role model, honey, you are sadly mistaken. And Tina - if your killing cells remark helps you to sleep at night, good for you. On what magical day do the cells (HUMAN) turn into a baby - 4 months, 6 months, maybe at birth? Liberal malarky to make "choice" sound cool.
Teen mom and 16 and pregnant are stupid shows. A lot of you guys are saying it's a good show to show people how hard it is to be a teen mom. Well, that doesn't stop the incoming people for the new seasons from being a teen mom. The fact is, if it wasn't for that show, they would be living a harder life because those shows pays them. They are not all great moms. Look at that Amber girl. Chelsea Handler did what was right for her. If she terminated her pregnancy early, she killed cells. You know, adoption is an option, but if you don't adopted, being in the system is horrible. In the end, it's her choice.
Chelsea! You already did kill someone! Congratulations on killing your own child. Someone would have taken that baby and loved him or her. Do any of you know that every year people who cannot have babies in this country wait and wait to adopt, while women and girls CHOOSE to let their babies be killed? Do you know what an abortion actually is, that some babies even SURVIVE them?? This is a holocaust and it breaks my heart, i don't now how she can joke about it like it was a tooth she had pulled. Anyone here want an abortion? I'll raise your child, who will be loved and told how much they are wanted, all the time. This breaks my heart every day.
I admire her frankness. I think abortion is a personal issue and I would never tell someone that they should or should not do it. However, I also wouldn't criticize someone for their choice; whether they choose to have the baby or whether they choose to have an abortion. It's not for me to say. She is simply stating what she did. She made the decision that she felt was right for her and she has stated that she doesn't regret it. As long as that's the case, then good for her. She shouldn't be made to feel guilty for her choice just because YOU don't believe in it. Clearly she's fine with it. Why would you want someone to feel regretful and upset? That seems to lack the compassion that most pro-life people preach of.
Chelsea Handler is supposed to be a comedien? Well she is not funny and does not deserve to have her own show, but she has one. No one is glorifying teen pregnancy, it is just showing young girls how difficult it is to raise children, when you are a child yourself. Chelsea had an abortion and that is something that she will have to live with the rest of her life. Chelsea is very outspoken, but not very credible as far as I am concerned; she knows some people that got her on a show that I watched once and I vowed to never watch again. She insults people and talks about people but she fails to mention how bad that she actually looks and acts. The Real Housewives of Atlanta is not racist, Chelsea I think you are.
