Chelsea Handler Admits Having Abortion at 16, Slams Teen Mom and 16 & Pregnant
Lots of people are not fans of the Teen Mom phenomenon. Add Chelsea Handler to that list, and for some surprisingly personal reasons, she revealed.
The E! star described her own personal ordeal with teen pregnancy and the choice that changed her life in an interview with the New York Times.
“We need to be focusing on other things. We’re seeking out such grossness in human behavior and want such mindless entertainment," she says.
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta and some of these other shows are just racist. Or 16 and Pregnant. Getting rewarded for being pregnant when you’re a teenager? Are you serious? I mean, that makes me want to kill somebody.”
Chelsea Handler knows this situation personally, confessing that she was a pregnant teen who exercised her right to choose, which she's grateful she has.
“I had an abortion when I was 16. Because that’s what I should have done,” Chelsea blantantly states. “Otherwise I would now have a 20-year-old kid."
"Those are things that people shouldn’t be dishonest about.”
You have to hand it to the Handler. She does not mince words and is not shy about who she is, even if that means a lot of people won't like what she is.

I admire her frankness. I think abortion is a personal issue and I would never tell someone that they should or should not do it. However, I also wouldn't criticize someone for their choice; whether they choose to have the baby or whether they choose to have an abortion. It's not for me to say. She is simply stating what she did. She made the decision that she felt was right for her and she has stated that she doesn't regret it. As long as that's the case, then good for her. She shouldn't be made to feel guilty for her choice just because YOU don't believe in it. Clearly she's fine with it. Why would you want someone to feel regretful and upset? That seems to lack the compassion that most pro-life people preach of.

Chelsea Handler is supposed to be a comedien? Well she is not funny and does not deserve to have her own show, but she has one. No one is glorifying teen pregnancy, it is just showing young girls how difficult it is to raise children, when you are a child yourself. Chelsea had an abortion and that is something that she will have to live with the rest of her life. Chelsea is very outspoken, but not very credible as far as I am concerned; she knows some people that got her on a show that I watched once and I vowed to never watch again. She insults people and talks about people but she fails to mention how bad that she actually looks and acts. The Real Housewives of Atlanta is not racist, Chelsea I think you are.

Okay Chelsea is such a bitch like really I dnt agree with abortion like if yu don't want a baby don't have sex simple as that okay every one that do agree with abortions what if your parents had one with y'all it wouldnt have been funn and if and I like teen Mom cause its ahowing how hard it is to be a young mom but they ain't no bitch to abort there baby and some one said that if yu use condoms yu prevent a pregnacy ture but its different then abortions cause there ain't nothing to abort

well any teenage gurl who is active n sex should use protection becuz it saves u problems and also i believe its ok if you made a mistake but learn from it juss sayin ps stay safe nd protected

I believe abortion is a choice. But I also believe it is a private decision and she should have been more sympathetic to peoples beliefs and feelings. It wasn't necessarily what she or anybody else should do. Nobody should be bashed for keeping their baby, regardless of how old they are. Everything happens for a reason.

All of this starts because teens decide to be stupid.. their is no self control.. and none of these kids think about what will happen if they choose to be stupid and have sex. i dont see how hard it is for these kids to see hey if i have sex their is a posibility of me getting pregnant wether i use condoms or birth control.. none of them think about that.. all they think is oh im gonna go have fun and i have birth control so im ok or we have condoms so we'll be safe when it isnt that way wether u have this stuff or not u should make sure that u know u r taking a chance of getting pregnant.. theirfore u should not have sex unless u know u can provide for a child.. the only point of sex is to procreate even though it does feel good.. im pro life and i think that these girls should not be having abortions.. its just an easy way to not have to deal consequinces.. i mean come on grow up and deal with it if u thought u were old enough to open ur legs then u should be old enough to deal with

No what she should have done was not have sex or at least used protection when she did
I am so sick and tired of all those people who bash teen mom and other shows like this
if you don't li8ke the show then don't watch it you are in control of the remote and what channel you are watching on your TV No one is forcing you to watch this show
I for one like the show and all the others like it and enjoy watching them

For all those who are posting that abortion is murder and only "god" decides who comes in to this world and that by having an abortion you have to answer to the "one above":
You are basing your arguments on the belief that there is in fact, a god. Not everyone is religious or believes in god, so your arguments hold no merit. Also, not everyone believes that a little group of cells is a living human being. Do you know how many cells you kill when you scratch your arm? Much more than when a woman has an abortion in early term. Also, if you are going to argue that those cells would eventually turn in to a living human life, well then you could also argue that a sperm and egg could also potentially turn into human life, and that using condoms or birth control is also a form of murder because you are preventing life from forming. Think about it.

I agree with chelsea, teen pregnancy is so glorified on tv! Teens are getting pregnant on purpose just to be on mtv's teen mom or 16 and pregnant. Also, there's nothing wrong with abortion! And Chelsea does have the right, Jennifer. She's discussing her past as on of the reasons why she doesnt like the show. You dont have the right to talk about her that way.
