The Last Song Opening Weekend Results: Mediocre
Despite critical bashing of The Last Song, the first non-Hannah Montana movie to feature Miley Cyrus cracked the top five at the box office this weekend.
But the film only earned $16 million, not coming close to the top spot or even the number-three spot. Since it opened on Wednesday, the flick has garnered $25.6 million. See chart, below...
While fake sources claim Miley thinks she should earn an Oscar for this role, and that her "ego is out of control," Cyrus hasn't actually responded publicly about her goals for the movie.
Still, it's safe to assume she and producers were hoping for a better showing. Barely making half the box office as Why Did I Get Married Too? Really?!?
Cyrus has made it clear that her future is on the big screen, as opposed to television or in the recording studio. It's too early to say how these results will affect those plans. But at least one thing came out of it: she met Liam Hemsworth.

Yo, jokers. Of the films released so far this year, The Last Song is on track to be the fourth or fifth most profitable in it's theatrical run. It will beat all movies except Alice in Wonderland, How to Train Your Dragon, Valentines Day, and will be neck and neck with Shutter Island. It's on track to make significantly more than Dear John overseas to become the top grossing Nicholas Sparks film of all time. Miley always makes money for the people she works with, so she will continue to be able to choose the projects she likes. Go Miley!

i'm sorry i didnt comment earlier, but i was too busy watching the last song again and again and again......it is a GREAT movie.....marvelous.....amazing.....fantastic......i really dont have the words to describe the movie......but the bottom line is that it is a great movie....miley performance in it was totally awesome.....she had a remarkable maturity and an honest approach for someone so young.....
but one thing that you guys should do b4 watching a movie is to see it with an open mind.....without having formed any conclusions beforehand.....only then can u enjoy the film.....the reason some people didnt enjoy the film was that they saw the film from a critics point of view....they had read the criticism the film received and so they thought that the film was bad....and they wanted it to be bad....thats y some didnt enjoy the film......i saw the film b4 reading any reviews abt the film.....and i was able to enjoy every moment of it......i luvvvdddd miley in it, i luvvvddd the p

Sophie dear heart, what are you? A fat ugly pimply faced ten, eleven or 12 year old girl that will never have a boyfriend or be on of the pretty cheerleader types? And has to live through a horse face buck toothed no talent hillbilly. The movie will never be a blockbuster, it had to come out 2 or 3 days before the other new movies this week, and even with a substantial head start, it still could not cut it.
