Like so many others — and hundreds of millions around the world — she was stricken with horror by the ruthless aggression by Russia.
Yara went on Fox and Friends in order to share her view.
It was more than simply recalling how wonderful her home country is.
Yara also shared details on how her friends, many of whom were in Kyiv, struggled to escape and even survive in the face of the assault.
The international community is holding its breath and rooting for Ukraine, hoping to help in any way that will not launch a world war.
All that Yara can do at the moment is use her voice and her platform to help people understand the horror that is unfolding.
We are grateful that she is safe in the United States.
We only wish that we could say the same of tens of millions more Ukrainians.
