Jon Stewart will say goodbye to The Daily Show on August 6
And Trevor Noah will say hello as host on September 28.
Comedy Central has made this announcement while also debuting the first promo for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, which features the South African comedian going for a spin in Stewart's chair.
Not long after the network confirmed that Noah would take over for Stewart, the former was met with a a social media backlash after old tweets of his were brought to light that made him come across as racist, anti-Semitic and sexist.
But Noah defended himself by saying they were just bad jokes by a young comic and Comedy Central released the following statement:
“Like many comedians, Trevor Noah pushes boundaries; he is provocative and spares no one, himself included. To judge him or his comedy based on a handful of jokes is unfair. Trevor is a talented comedian with a bright future at Comedy Central.”
