At the 2015 BET Awards on Sunday night, Diddy fell through a hole in the stage.

Elsewhere, Rihanna sang along to Chris Brown while the latter performed.

But Janet Jackson was the real star of the evening.

Declaring her its inaugural "Ultimate Icon,” the ceremony honored this veteran star with a tribute that included dance performances by Ciara, Jason Derulo and Tinashe.

And then the not-often-seen singer made an appearance herself on stage to accept the trophy.

"I’m so grateful for the support you’ve alway given me, to my beautiful father and my beautiful mother," Jackson said, looking out at her parents sitting in the audience.

Jackson got her her supporters all fired up last month by announcing she’ll launching  new album, a new world tour and a "new movement" in 2015, seven years after the release of her last effort, Discipline

Her 36-date Unbreakable World Tour kicks off in Vancouver in August and you can watch her accept the Ultimate Icon award above.
