Cardi B has got takes, y'all.
On Wednesday night, though, the polarizing singer went ridiculously viiral with an Instagram rant against the ongoing government shutdown.
Speaking directly into the camera in a way only she can, Cardi expressed shock and irritation over the current state of our country.
(As a quick refresher, the government is currently shutdown because President Trump wants $5.7 billion for a wall along the southern border and Congress refuses to give it to him.)
"Our country is in a hellhole right now. All for a f-cking wall," Cardi says in the video here, adding:
"We really need to take this serious. I feel like we need to take some action."
Due to the shutdown, around 800,000 people are not being paid at the moment.
Cardi B is not one of them, of course. However...
"I'm scared," she admits here. "This is crazy and I really feel bad for these people that gotta go to f-cking work to not get motherf-cking paid."
As of this writing, the video has been viewed over nine million times.
Perhaps most hilariously, it has been viewed by politicians in D.C., some of whom had a conversation over Twitter about whether or not it would appropriate to share.
This really may be our favorite social media exchange of all-time:
The shutdown is now the longest in U.S. history.
It is now in its 27th day.
Has this happened before? Yes, but Cardi was prepared with a response for anyone who wanted to make this argument.
Now, I don’t want to hear y’all [expletive] talking about, ‘Oh, but Obama shut down the government for 17 days.’ Yeah, f-ck! For health care! So your grandma could check her blood pressure!" she said.
The artist told GQ magazine in an April 2018 interview that she loves political science.
"I love government. I'm obsessed with presidents. I'm obsessed to know how the system works," she said at the time.
Watch her try to make sense of it here.
