90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? stars Russ and Paola are filled with love for their son, baby Axel.
The Mayfields even gave Axel his own Instagram page for fans who want nonstop pics of the precious three-month-old.
But photos of their rainbow baby still show up on Paola's page.
For some vicious mom-shamers, that's cause for alarm.
A slew of concern-trolls have bombarded Paola's page with accusations that she is "exploiting" her son and somehow debasing herself in the process.
Why? Because Paola shared a photo of her breastfeeding her baby.
Here come the mom-shamers!
Paola Mayfield is getting hammered in her comments after sharing the sweet photo that you're about to see.
What's frustrating is that it keeps happening
Some fans worry that if Paola keeps getting backlash like this, she's going to reduce the amount that she posts, or at least share fewer pics of baby Axel. That's not what we want.
THIS is the photo that somehow prompted rage
As you can see, Paola has the audacity to ... nurse her baby, helping to sustain his life. And, as a reality star and model with a hefty social media presence, she's also sharing the photo. The horror!
The haters rolled in
"She loves being naked the baby is used as an accessory!!!" one hateful commenter accused. "She is the most attention seeking woman of 90 Day Fiancé. Oh her husband was so upset about that first shoot, now she shows everything."
The mom-shaming continued
"Everything has to be a photo op for her," another hater expressed. "Such a narcissist. The kid is just used as a prop."
Thankfully, not everyone on the internet is a monster
"Thanks for making this a ‘normal’ thing to do," a supporter wrote. "After all, it is totally natural. Mothers shouldn’t feel awkward or worst yet, alienated for feeding their child! Breastmilk is the best thing for them and it’s not always possible to go hide in a corner when you’re out in public."
This isn't even Paola's first time sharing a breastfeeding pic
She documents her life, both on camera and on social media. Of course people are going to see her baby, including when he's nursing.
Yet the haters crawl out of the woodwork every time
Paola is doing more than just feeding her baby, which is part of why she shares the pics. She's helping to make the world a better place.
The reason that so many celebrities -- from former reality stars to big-name actors -- share breastfeeding photos is to help normalize it. We still live in a world where some women are asked to go sit in a public bathroom stall of questionable sanitary status and feed their baby instead of just sitting on a bench.
Women like Paola are working to change that
When they breastfeed, they're helping to normalize it in the public eye so that people wig out just a little bit less. No one influencer can change the world overnight, but every little bit helps.
As a bonus, Axel gets to eat!
But is she, as her critics accuse, exploiting her now three-month-old baby for social media attention?
A lot of kids grow up to be unhappy when their blogger parents share their private moments from childhood -- first crush, first heartbreak, falling out with friends, and other things that are supposed to be private. Baby pictures, however, are just baby pictures. People have been sharing baby pics since the invention of the camera.
Is Paola being a bad wife, though?
As one of her haters suggested, Russ used to resent her modeling profession because he held some antiquated ideas about the modeling profession and about marriage.
But he mostly got over that
Russ came around, and hs even appeared alongside Paola in some of her most revealing photos, both while she was pregnant and before the announcements.
That's not to say that the conversation is over
We're sure that some talk about Russ being a bit of a baby about Paola's job will come up on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? when it premieres on April 28. We expect that most of their storyline this season, however, will focus upon Pao's pregnancy.
She showed her stuff during the pregnancy, too
Honestly? This is a genuinely artistic photo. How many moms wish that they'd taken something like this while they were pregnant?
Anyway, Pao's haters need to click the unfollow button
If you disapprove of something -- like Pao and Russ' misguided choice to pick-and-choose which vaccinations to give Axel -- there are polite ways to express that. Otherwise, you're just being a concern troll and you don't need to be following the people you feel the impulse to harass.
Paola isn't the first 90 Day Fiance star to face this kind of trolling
Kalani Faagata, from Season 6 of 90 Day Fiance, had zero chill about hitting back when critics attacked her for (gasp!) feeding her baby Oliver while the cameras were filming her. Apparently, some trolls thought that she should have retreated to some sort of Shame Closet and forced the cameras to stop rolling.
Kalani hit back hard at her trolls
"If I didn’t need to cover up when half of my boobs were out for decoration, why would I magically need to cover up 1/4 of a single boob that was being used to nurse?" Kalani asked. We don't always agree with her, but she has made some genuinely great points both on and off of the show.
Kalani has little patience for nonsense
"The bottom line is that I was away from my son all day and he wanted to eat, so I fed him," Kalani explained. "I will never apologize for prioritizing my son’s comfort over the comfort of people who are more outraged by a baby being breastfed than kids who don’t even have food to eat."
Paola feeding her baby is not "exploitation"
And neither is sharing the photos. If seeing the outer edges of Paola Mayfield's boob is scandalous, you're probably following the wrong social media account. She's a fitness model, remember?
