The Huge Reveal
Josiah and Lauren Duggar used this photo to share some amazing news: They are expecting a child!
Rainbow After the Storm
How perfect is this? Lauren and Josiah held up this sign as a way to give thanks for being pregnant mere months after Lauren suffered a miscarriage.
Yup. A "rainbow baby" is the name given to the first child a couple conceives after it suffers a miscarriage.
Lauren Suffered a Miscarriage in October 2018
She and Josh broke this sad news to fans in a video meant to promote the new season of TLC's Counting On, which returned to the air in February.
The Sad Reveal
"A couple months ago, we found out that we were expecting, but suddenly thereafter, we lost our baby,” Swanson explained in this clip, while her husband added: "It really was a hard time for our family going through this right after we got married. And all the dreams of getting to see our little one and hold it in our hands dashed before our eyes."
A Few More Details
"I wasn't feeling well," Lauren said of how she was preparing for a trip to a friend's weekend when the miscarriage happened. "I was cramping really, really bad, which was quite strange because I normally don't. I was thinking I had something with gluten in it."
Concluded Lauren Back Then:
"It was late at night and I went to the restroom, and right there was the baby. Gone. I couldn't believe it, and I was hoping it wasn't true." Just so sad.
But... Says Lauren Now!
"We are so excited to announce that baby #2 is on the the way!!!! It’s hard to fully express just how grateful we are for God blessing us again with another precious gift! So, as we rejoice of the life of our second sweet baby, we also remember (balloon as symbolism) our other sweet baby, Asa, in heaven. God is so incredibly good"
“God’s faithfulness to us in our most difficult moments has sustained us and brought us such love and comfort,” the couple also told People Magazine. “We cannot begin to tell you how much we are looking forward to holding this baby in our arms this fall.”
We're Just So Happy for Them
Josh and Lauren got married in July of 2018, as you can see here.
A Beautiful Tribute
On Mother's Day, one week before revealing to the world they were expecting, Josiah honored his wife as follows: "I have seen you love, protect, and how much you have given without getting anything in return. I wish our sweet baby could’ve seen just how wonderful a mother you are."
He Totally Made Us Cry
Concluded Josiah in this message: "Not all mothers arms get to hold their little one, or get to hear their baby’s laughs and cries. You may have missed out on these things since our baby was called home to be with Jesus, but you ARE a mother. I love you Lauren!"
When is She Due? Do They Know the Gender?
We don't know and we don't know.
But They Have Plenty of Company
So very many Duggar women are pregnant. Even more than usual!
Jessa Seewald (née Duggar) announced in January 2019 that she is pregnant with her and Ben Seewald’s third kid.
Three Months Later...
Kendra Duggar (née Caldwell) confirmed that she and Joseph Duggar are expecting their second child
Let's Not Forget About Amy Duggar!
She may exactly be the best known or most loved Duggar, but this 32-year old is finally preparing for motherhood.
Then, This Past May...
... Anna Duggar (née Keller) surprised some fans by announcing that she Josh Duggar will welcome their SIXTH child this year.
Wait, One More!
Joy-Anna Forsyth (née Duggar) and Austin Forsyth’s announcement came also arrived in May. They seem pretty psyched about it.
Jim Bob and Michelle Speak Out
"We are so thrilled for Lauren & Josiah expecting! It was very difficult losing their first child in a miscarriage, but now God has blessed them with another child on the way. This year we are going from 12 to 17 grandkids, soon they are going to outnumber our own kids, we are so grateful for each one of them," they wrote on their family website.
Added the Heads of This Family:
"t’s not easy raising kids in today’s world. Over the years we have asked God for wisdom to help keep our children on the right track and to point each of our family members to a close relationship with God."
"One of the resources that has been priceless are the messages at https://embassymedia.com/The practical Biblical teachings have inspired us and taught us how to lead our children spiritually, how to have a close marriage relationship, how to resolve conflicts and how to conquer anger. We pray that each one of our descendants will make a positive difference in this world! -Jim Bob & Michelle"
To Lauren and all of the Duggar women. We wish them all the best of luck with their pregnancies and delivers.
