Just this week, Ashley Martson told fans that she now regrets having endangered Jay’s life after he cheated on her.
90 Day Fiance fans understand her anger.
But months and a wealth of other drama have gone by since that scene was filmed.
Some of the developments were good — but then Jay cheated again, and it’s all been downhill from there.
Ashley revealed last month that Jay would be deported, but no one — including Ashley and Jay — knew how this would turn out.
Jay is now in ICE custody after violating a protective order.
And it may surprise many fans to know that no one is more heartbroken about this than Ashley. Take look at what she had to say:
Ashley shared big news on Tuesday night
We have her heartbroken post sharing the grim tidings, but first, the context: because Jay and Ashley’s troubles go back a long ways.
Jay cheated … again
After possibly cheating on Ashley multiple times before their wedding and then immediately downloading Tinder after the wedding, she gave him another chance … and he absolutely blew it. He banged a random girl in the bathroom of the barbershop.
Ashley was Big Mad
She packed up Jay’s stuff and kicked him out of the house.
Jay was put out of the house
He was more than a little bewildered. He admitted to the cheating, but obviously didn’t want his marriage to end.
She even called the police on him
Many 90 Day Fiance fans who saw this scene considered it to be overkill.
Ashley expressed her regrets
She took to Instagram to share that she had acted rashly and out of anger at the time, and acknowledged that it was not one of her finer moments.
That was NOT the end of their story
Ashley ended up reconciling with Jay, just weeks after this nasty breakup.
Jay was there for her
He sat vigil over her in the hospital through two health crisises and then waited on her hand and foot during her recovery. Things seemed good again. The “good times” went on for months.
Three months later, it fell apart again
On April 15, Ashley roasted Jay about his imminent deportation. Castmates Larissa Lima then revealed that Ashley and Jay had split, and Ashley eventually accused Jay of adultery — both on social media and in the divorce papers that she filed.
Yes, ANOTHER cheating scandal
Ashley put his alleged mistress on blast, but the full extent of his alleged cheating remains unclear.
Things got ugly
Ashley admitted on social media that she threw a fire extinguisher through Jay’s window. She says that this happened after he invited her over for a hookup in late May, only to find him hanging out with other girls and refusing to open the door. She had been drinking but that’s not an excuse, and she was charged.
Ashley warned of Jay’s looming deportation
She said that she had withdrawn filing to adjust Jay’s status after one of his previous mess-ups, and that the US was planning to deport Jay on August 7. Unless, of course, he made a run for it.
Police had already been to her house
She said that ICE knew where Jay worked, and that she suspected that Jay planned to run to avoid deportation. Ashley made it clear that she’d tell agents anything they wanted to know about Jay. It was one betrayal too many, clearly.
Jay continued to live his life
Keep in mind that all of that drama airing on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? was filmed in late December and early January. Jay’s hair, as you can see, is very different now.
He made another big change
Yes, he got himself a facial tattoo — seemingly a silhouette of Jamaica. Which seemed to counter the rumors that he’s planning to run. He’s already pretty recognizable, but if you’re looking to hide from authorities, you don’t get a tattoo of a foreign country on your face.
Now, a lot has changed
It turns out that, on July 1, Ashley Martson placed a Protection From Abuse order (PFA) against Jay, whose real name is Conroy St. Christopher Smith. That’s serious business and we do not know the exact circumstances of that.
Then, late Tuesday night, Jay shared this
This cryptic lyrics video makes reference to “turning himself in.”
Ashley shared an Instagram Story of her own
“Mark my words this is the hardest day of my life,” Ashley writes. “I can’t believe this is how it ended.”
She was grieving
“The amount of sadness I’m feeling is unfathomable,” Ashley shared. “There is no celebrating over here, just pure heartbreak!”
Jay was arrested
In Touch Weekly has confirmed that Jay allegedly broke the PFA order. It looks like he voluntarily surrendered to authorities. Because he is not an American citizen, he was turned over to immigration authorities and is currently in ICE custody.
So much for August 7
It is now expected that he may be deported early, though a lot of things remain unclear. And Ashley’s post, shared to her Instagram Stories, was quickly deleted. She has been through so much in the past few months (and before that, let’s be honest).
They used to be truly in love
Even though Ashley seemed to taunt Jay about his finite stay in the country back in April, she said that when she was furious. It’s clear now that the reality is far less cheerful.
It’s a reminder that it takes more than just love to make a marriage work
Ashley’s reactions to Jay’s cheating sometimes caused her more trouble than she needed. Jay’s cheating itself was obviously inexcusable.
We don’t anticipate a reconciliation this time
Even so, with Jay having a criminal record in the US now, it doesn’t seem likely that Ashley or anyone else could bring him over with a K-1 visa.
