Danielle Staub has reportedly come to her senses.
For now, at least.
After stunning the online community by announcing last week that she’s engaged to Oliver Maier AND planning to immediately marry Oliver Maier, the former Real Housewife of New Jersey is presssing pause.
She did only finalize her divorce from Marty Caffrey a few days ago, remember.
What has caused Staub to rethink her romantic plans?
And is she still dating this Oliver Maier fella?

What is Going on Here?
We’ve been asking that question about Staub and her antics ever since she entered our lives as a cast member on The Real Housewives of New Jersey in 2009.
But Specifically? In This Case?
In late February, Staub was spotted in St. Bart’s with some guy named Oliver Maier. They were making out and were very clearly a romantic item.
Why Was This Surprising?
First, because who wants to date Danielle Staub?!? Second, because Staub had finalized her divorce from third husband Marty Caffrey one week before this sighting.
And It Was an Ugly Divorce, Too
Last August, Caffrey accused Staub of emotional, financial and verbal abuse, mere months after a wedding in the Bahamas about which Staub said: “There’s just not a better feeling in the world. I’m still crying over it… it was beautiful.”
But the Honeymoon Phase Didn’t Last Long
In a three-page statement sent to Radar Online, Marty said he has suffered “financial, verbal and emotional abuse†from his “arrogant, disrespectful, presumptuous and entitled” wife.
Trashing the Heck Out of Staub
Caffrey said he had to “cancel” his credit cards after continued “abuse” to his bank accounts, adding of Staub: “I gave her a platform to be relevant again. Because I believed in her and loved her. I still love her and still believe in her. And her payback is nothing but financial, verbal and emotional abuse. I’ve tried dozens of times to talk to Danielle about this but she just buries her head in the sand.”
YIKES!
We know, right? Staub would later tell Wendy Williams that this marriage fell apart due to Caffrey’s drinking. “He does hit cocktail hour a little bit heavily,” she said on air. “And it does change things.”
Enter Maier… Apparently
You can imagine our confusion when we learned Staub was engaged to this Maier guy just days after officially ending her marriage AND saying she was gonna exchange vows with him immediately, on Monday, March 4.
But Not Anymore
Multiple outlets habe since confirmed that the wedding has been postponed.
How Come?
“You know what, my daughters are pushing back,†Staub told TMZ over the weekend. “My daughters are pushing back. We might not do it Monday but the ring is going to be on [my finger].”
Well Done, Daughters!
Christine is 25 and Jillian is 20 and Danielle had both with second husband Thomas Staub. “Danielle wants to spend a little time with her daughters as this happened very fast and caught them off-guard,†an insider tells Page Six.
Who is Maier Anyway?!?
He works as the managing director of Speyside Equity, a private equity firm based out of New York City. According to People Magazine, his family owns 15 vineyards in the South of France … as well as two castles.

It’s possible.

Yes, an insider tells People very simply: “They will likely get married sometime in the next week or so.”

“I’m madly in love,†she told this publication. “I’m feeling elated and excited for the next stage of my life. I’m going to marry the man of my possible dreams and hopefully I’ll spend the rest of my life in bliss.â€Â
Might There Be Another Reason for the Wedding Delay?
Wanting your kids to meet your fiance before marrying him is likely enough, but Radar Online also reports that Maier had to be rescued from the sea during their trip to St. Bart’s because he was in danger due to being so gosh darn drunk.

Well, she had many men to whom she can compare him. Staub has been engaged 21 times.
That Can’t Be True
It is. Trust us. We’ve conducted this research again and again: Staub has thus far in her life been married three times and engaged 21 times.
That is Mind-Boggling
To Danielle’s credit, we guesss, she knew that 17 of those engagements weren’t gonna work out, so she at least didn’t go through with the weddings. But one must now wonder: Does she just have an enormous collection of diamond rings or what?!?
UPDATE!
Just hours after news broke about the postponement, reports came pouring out that Danielle and Olivier had called it quits. The reports said that Danielle had probably been the one to end things, and also that Olivier may not be a real duke.
But is it really over?
21 might still be Danielle’s magic number, because Danielle insists that the engagement is still on. (Olivier may not be a real duke, though — your ancestor being a duke doesn’t mean much if that duchy was absorbed by the French monarchy centuries ago)
Danielle can PROVE that they’re still together
Though this looks a little like a glimpse at a hostage video, Danielle shows off Olivier and makes it very clear that they’re still together. Olivier doesn’t make things quite so clear, but … he is half-German. Maybe it’s just his European stoicism. So the wedding is still on … for now.
