Back in late August, Catelynn Lowell said she had big news she would soon share.
We speculated at the time.
We wondered at the time.
We hoped at the time.
We thought... maybe, possibly: Could Catelynn be pregnant?
It was just a guess, but Catelynn and husband Tyler Baltierra have now confirmed it was an accurate one:
The couple is expecting another child!
Scroll down to learn more about this blessed development, including quotes from the Teen Mom veterans and history of how the couple got here.
Catelynn Lowell is expecting her third child! She made the exciting announcement via this beautiful photo.
And It's Shocking!
Or at least very surprising. For reasons we'll get to later, fans have been concerned about the state of Catelynn and Tyler's marriage ever since watching the trailer for Teen Mom OG.
For What Reason?
Because Tyler says the following in an upcoming scene from Season 8: "If someone asked me, ‘Are you happy in your marriage?’I would say, ‘Absolutely not.'"
Doesn't sound like a man anxious to expand his family with his wife, does it?
But Those Episodes Were Filmed Months Ago
In other words: That was then, this is now, and now Catelynn says the following to Us Weekly: "The big news is that we are expecting our rainbow baby. This baby is our rainbow after the storm. I’m super excited."
Wait, There Was a Storm?
Recovering from a Nightmare
"It's very traumatic," Tyler told a Teen Mom producer about the miscarriage, adding that the reality stars "sat in the bed and cried and just held each other" after losing their baby.
Was the Couple Planning for This Baby?
No, Catelynn tells Us Weekly: “It was a huge shock at first. We were not planning it, especially after the miscarriage and how I went downhill with my mental illness.”
Yes, mental illness. Catelynn has checked into rehab three times to deal with mental health issues. She has even said she suffers from suicidal thoughts
Catelynn is Still Battling with This Issue
Which is why we "were going to wait a really long time," she tells the tabloid, adding: "We were using protection and everything and still got pregnant. This baby just wanted to be here. It was very unexpected."
Some Brief History:
Lowell and Baltierra are parents of three-year-old daughter, Novalee. They started dating in middle school, got married in 2015 and also placed their first daughter, Carly, now nine years old, up for adoption in 2009.
They've Had Many Ups, and Also Many Downs
Divorce rumors have been following Catelynn and Tyler around for well over a year. In May 2018, the Teen Mom star changed her Instagram name from "Catelynn Baltierra” to “Catelynn Lowell" -- and fans assumed the worst.
But They're Remained Very Candid About Their Struggles
This spring, Tyler and Catelynn were guests on Dr. Oz and were straight up asked about the possibility of a divorce. "I’m so scared right now … but I know that everything that is supposed to happen will happen… whatever my destiny is will be… I got this… I’m strong," Catelynn Tweeted around this time.
They've Been Willing to Make It Work... At All Costs
According to Radar Online, the couple checked into an in-patient couple-oriented therapy program in a last-ditch effort to save their marriage this past July. We guess it worked!
Tyler Loves Catelyn. It's as Simple as That.
Unafraid to come across as sensitive or vulnerable, Tyler penned an epic tribute to his wife about six weeks before this pregnancy news broke. “Life is really simple if you think about it," he wrote. "If you love something … fight for it. Sacrifice for it. Love it so much that it makes you want to love yourself in a way you never knew you were even capable of loving."
He Had Lots More to Say, Too:
"It’s been 13 years together & that’s not because of luck or us not arguing or not getting upset with one another. That’s because everyday, we choose to love each other unconditionally, with all the flaws & all the baggage our past lives has given us."
"You Are Beautiful. You Are Worthy. You Are Strong. You Are Safe … & I love you more than this realm will allow me to express in all my desired ways." (Pass the Kleenex, please!)
Right Back At Ya!
Catelynn has had some nice things to say about Tyler, too, including this 13-year anniversary tribute: "Happy anniversary to my husband! We have had some really rough times and some amazing times. I wouldn’t want to go through this life with anyone but you!!!! Happy 3 years and I can’t wait for many more! I love you."
To You-Know-Where with the Haters!
Catelynn has freely admitted that the relationship has been a struggle at times, but has also made its status well know, telling Us Weekly in May: "Tyler and I are not getting a divorce. Couples go through ups and downs. That’s normal life. "We are a solid couple that will work through anything life throws at us."
And Now There's a Baby on the Way for Them!
This really is amazing news for two people who battled some very serious demons, yet never lost their focus or gave up on their union.
When is She Due? What Will Be the Gender? Do They Have Names Picked Out?
We don't know, we don't know and we don't know. They only just announced the news! Sheesh!
Catelynn Has Talked About Getting Pregnant Again in the Past
She admitted awhile back that she has some fears, telling People Magazine: “I’ve definitely been thinking about it and that’s the one thing that’s holding me back, honestly. Especially because they say if you’ve had postpartum once, you have a higher chance of getting it with your next.”
So Far, So Good, Though?
As far as we know, yes. Catelynn seems very happy about this pregnancy, but postpartum hits a new mother after she gives birth. We'll be keeping her in our thoughts.
When Can We See Her In Action Again?
Teen Mom OG returns to MTV with new episodes on October 1! We can't wait.
