Today’s “Rich Person Trend You Can’t Relate To” is markedly different than the typical Williamburg loft-buying and dual master bedroom building Manhattanites of trends past. But that’s probably because this latest installment comes not from the usual offender (the New York Times‘ real estate section) but rather from the deep, dark underbelly of Radar.com.
And you won’t believe what these Gen Y prepsters are doing when they’re not updating their MySpace and/or Facebook profiles! The newest rage amongst private school elite?
Coughing up $50 for the privilege of regressing back to their spoiled, six year olds selves aboard a big, yellow school bus.
‘But wait,’ you say, ‘isn’t this just another example of self-indulgent rich kids flaunting their overinflated sense of self-worth and masking their latent immaturity with a highly contrived veneer of naivete?’
The short answer, of course, is yes. But, as Radar’s investagatory journalists reveal, these mini-moguls aren’t just shelling out fifty bucks to ride the school bus, listen to Raffi music and fingerpaint. They’re shelling out fifty bucks to ride the school bus, listen to Raffi music and fingerpaint all while taking hallucinogenic drugs and having wild, underage sex orgies, which will—one day—preclude them from achieving top socialite status when the illicit stories are inevitably leaked to David Patrick Columbia.
And the ringleader of this whole operation?
An unidentified Fieldston senior named “Josh,” who smokes Winston Lights, applied to Michigan (but only as his safety school!) and came up with the idea for “Sindergarten” last summer in the Hamptons while he and some friends were “lamenting the artificiality of their computer-age adolescences.”
And we think “Josh” is totally onto something.
Because nothing helps ease the pain of an overprivileged upbringing like getting fucked up on hallucinogens and having a menage a trois with two guys from your A.P. bio class.

I went to Trinity School for 12 years. When we were young, we all took vans to school, not suburban, middle class yellow school busses. Starting in third grade, it was the MTA, baby. Even the Fieldston people don’t take yellow busses. They take luxury busses provided by Campus Coach.

They rent those yellow buses for the parties–even more loathsome. Can’t believe this is what New York’s elite have come to.

I heard about Sindergarten in December–my little sister who goes to Spence had been doing this shit for like two months, until our parents found out and put an end to it, but she still sneaks out when she can to go. There’s a TON of drug use and sex on the buses (according to her), done in a really creepy, weird way (according to me, not her–she’s completely into the scene and regards this idiot “Josh” as some kind of demi-god. I met him once, total phony, obviously just in this for the $$$).

Hi all,
I’m trying to do a short documentary on this Sindergarten craze. If anyone has any contacts of people involved in the scene, please pass my contact info along. Thanks so much!
