Melissa Etheridge is officially a married woman! The singer and her finance Linda Wallem wed in Montecito, Calif. on Saturday, May 31.
The 53 year olds said their vows in a lily garden at San Ysidro Ranch in front of famous friends like Chelsea Handler and Rosie O’Donnell. Etheridge wore a gray suit while Wallem opeted for a sparkly dress. Just hours prior to the wedding, Etheridge tweeted, “A gorgeous, perfect, beautiful day to get married.”
Etheridge went public with her engagement to Wallem in June of 2013, after the U.S Supreme Court ruled the Defense of Marriage Act to be unconstitutional. In an interview with CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield Etheridge said, “It is about family and I love my four kids. I called my now-fiancee. I’m looking forward to marrying my partner of three years. I’m going to get married in the state of California. I woke [the kids] up this morning telling them the Supreme Court ruling on DOMA. . .I love everybody out there. It’s a great day.”
The pair have been dating since 2010. Etheridge shares 7 year old twins with ex Tammy Lynn Michaels, and a 17 year old and a 15 year old with ex Julie Cypher.
