In recent weeks, viewers have sent a very strong message to MTV execs – namely, we’re not happy with your hiring practices.
In return, the network has issued an equally firm reply — we really don’t care what you think.
First, Teen Mom viewers learned that Amber Portwood will not be fired in the wake of evidence that she assaulted boyfriend Andrew Glennon.
And now, it looks as though Jenelle Evans might be rehired by the network just months after she was fired amid an appalling scandal.
Here’s everything we know so far about this baffling situation:
She’s Baaaack!
Back in May Jenelle was fired from the only job she’s ever had — and for very good reason.
The Nugget Incident
As you may recall, it was around that time that Jenelle’s increasingly unstable husband, David Eason, beat, shot and killed the family dog – a tiny French bulldog puppy named Nugget.
The Cover-Up
Jenelle, whose on-and-off relationship with the truth has been well documented, not only stuck by David’s side in the wake of this controvery, she also helped him to cover up his crimes, at one point lying to police and claiming the dog had simply run away.
Finally Coming Clean
Earlier this month, Jenelle and David finally admitted to slaughtering the dog, but only as part of a public relations blitz (which legitimate media outlets somehow agreed to) so that they could drum up some publicity for her newly-launched cosmetics line.
It Didn’t Work
Suffice it to say, the spin job they attempted didn’t translate to success on the sales front. In total, Evans has moved fewer than 200 units of her eyebrow kit, so we think it’s safe to say that confessing to being a dog killer didn’t turn out to be the hook she was looking for.
Domino Effect
Moreover, the Nugget killing and subsequent #JusticeForNugget movement prompted a CPS investigation which determined that she and David were incapable of providing a safe home environment for their children.
Controversial Decision
Following a grueling legal battle, the Easons regained custody of most of their kids, but now they’re faced with the question of how in the hell they’re gonna provide for them.
Unemployed on The Land

Jenelle has never had a real job, and David hasn’t worked since he was fired from Teen Mom 2 back in February of 2018.
Side Hustle Fails
Jenelle’s dreams of becoming a makeup mogul are obviously falling short, and David, well … he’s not faring much better.
Bless His Heart
Eason has launched Black River Metal and Wood, an Instagram-based online store that sells … stuff like this.
It’s Not Going Well
Needless to say, his sales make JE Cosmetics look like freakin’ Amazon by comparison.
You Can’t Make This Stuff Up
At last count, David’s shop has sold 14 units … total. You don’t need an MBA to know that’s not good.
Hard Times
So perhaps it should come as no surprise that Jenelle is desperate to get re-hired by MTV. And it seems she’s trying to speak it into existence.
Don’t Call Us, We’ll Call You
âÂÂIâÂÂve always had other jobs besides MTV, so IâÂÂve always been working,â Evans told fans during a recent Instagram Q&A. âÂÂI also have a lot of open opportunities but waiting on answers from my old job.âÂÂ
Yep

When one fan asked, âÂÂWhat do u mean waiting on your old job?â Jenelle promptly replied, “MTV.”
Nothing New

Beginning several weeks ago — around the time her makeup line tanked, in fact — Jenelle started doing her best to rewrite history and pretend that she’s still on good terms with her former employer.
A Civil Note

âÂÂMy relationship with MTV right now â we just left it on a civil note. And, you know, apparently IâÂÂm still in an open contract, I hear,â she recently told People magazine.
That’s Not What We Heard
âÂÂI hear that, you know, IâÂÂm not fired,â Evans continued. âÂÂSo, I mean, IâÂÂm confused, because I only talk to one of my old producers, but no one else will speak to me, so I donâÂÂt know. Things have been very hush-hush.âÂÂ
Nice Try
It makes sense that Jenelle is trying to butter up her bosses, but it might be a case of too little, too late.
The Replacement
For one, MTV has already cast Jade Cline in Jenelle’s place.
Bad Sign
On top of that, the folks at Starcasm noticed that until recently, Evans’ name and photo still appeared on the Teen Mom 2 page on MTV’s site.
A Very Bad Sign
This week, however, the image was removed.
Want Fries With That?

Sounds to us like Jenelle and David might want to get out there and start filling out applications.
The Bright Side

But if you’re a Jenelle fan, at least you can take comfort in the fact that things seem to have improved in her home life.
The Turnaround
Just a few short months ago, Jenelle’s kids were living with relatives, and her marriage seemed headed for collapse.
“Normal” Is a Relative Term
âÂÂEverythingâÂÂs back to normal,â she recently told People. âÂÂI think itâÂÂs been very great [having the kids back] because itâÂÂs really keeping us humble and we have been focusing on just staying at home, focusing on making them happy, making sure thatâÂÂs a number one priority.âÂÂ
Learning to Coparent
âÂÂI did domestic violence courses and he did anger management. And we looked at a coparenting class,â she later told Us Weekly.
Ah, the Grandparents Are the Problem
âÂÂWe know whatâÂÂs unhealthy for a relationship and whatâÂÂs healthy and how to coparent better. The major issue is coparenting with the grandparents on both of our sides,” she added.
Forged In Fire
Evans even went so far as to say the recent struggles she and David faced only served to strengthen their bond.
Yeah … Sounds Rough
âÂÂI mean, especially because of the [child protective services] thing that happened. We had to be so strong during that,â she said. âÂÂIt was so hard to just hear accusations as a parent that arenâÂÂt true.âÂÂ
Touch Call

For obvious reasons, Evans feels her life would be better with improved financial circumstances, but she also says she’s wary about returning to MTV … because she feels the network makes her look bad.
We Got an Editing Expert Over Here
âÂÂBut I would have to … IâÂÂve been working with them for so long, just the editing is not good,â Evans said.
Silver Lining

Don’t worry, Jenelle. Something tells us you’ll never have to worry about Teen Mom editors ever again!
