After losing their first custody battle in May, Jenelle and David are now fighting desperately to regain the right to raise their children.

The Easons second bout with the family court system got off to a rocky start, largely because of David’s erratic behavior at the courthouse.

Yes, this overgrown toddler can’t even control his tantrums until he gets home! In fact, it looks as though he’s becoming more and more petulant the longer this thing drags on.

Whether he’s having words with his daughter’s grandmother or threatening Nathan Griffith for talking to the press, it often seems that David can’t last a day without some sort of emotional outburst.

During the earliest days of the custody battle, David famously went on the offensive and clashed with reporters who were on hand for the hearing.

So far this week, David has refrained from going off on any photographers. His newfound restraint may have been the result of advice from his lawyers — or it might have had to do with the nature of today’s sessions.

Reunited

You see, the courthouse is the scene not only of the hearing, but also of Jenelle and David’s supervised visits with their kids.

The Kids Aren’t Alright

The Easons met with a judge today, and they also visited with their kids — for the first time in over three weeks.

Barbara Evans brought the Jenelle and David’s kids to the courthouse today. She’s been taking care of 2-year-old Ensley for almost two months now.

Obviously, Kaiser did not arrive with the rest of the kids. He showed up later with his dad, Nathan Griffith.

Sad Situation

According to TMZ, today marks the first time that Jenelle and David have visited with their kids since June 4.

Hard to Believe

Obviously, 23 days is a long time for any family to be apart. But for a 2-year-old, it’s a lifetime.

The Losers

So David is flipping out on everyone involved with the case, and it looks as though Jenelle has been putting minimal effort into seeing her kids. The Easons must be losing this case, right?

Not necessarily. In fact, recent developments make it look as though they could win this thing.

For one thing, the Easons have been fighting for a new judge from the start, and it now looks as though their efforts have paid off.

Following Tuesday’s hearing, a source close to the case informed Radar Online that the process could “go on for months.”

“Today was a pre-adjudication hearing,” the insider said. “Then there will be an adjudication hearing and an outcome.”

Obviously, Jenelle and David are not exactly enjoying this process, but legal experts say the longer this thing goes on, the better their chances of regaining custody.

Custody cases are generally decided within a matter of hours, but Jenelle and David’s legal teams (they’re represented by separate lawyers) seem to be complicating things as a matter of strategy.

To all of us on the outside, the case appears pretty cut-and-dried, and there are hundreds of hours of video evidence against Jenelle and David.

So their lawyers’ strategy might be to make the whole thing seem far more complex than that and to implicate the media and Jenelle’s many haters in this whole mess.

Dragging the case out interminably seems like an agonizing strategy, but Jenelle and David are mighty short on options these days.

Nathan has had custody of Kaiser for over a month now, and he doesn’t seem worried about the possibility of his son returning to The Land.

Griffith spoke to TMZ outside the courthouse today, and he seemed highly optimistic about his odds.
