Nurse Charmaine Wilson was arrested and jailed after concocting an elaborate ruse to trick a man she had a one-night stand with into thinking he fathered her child.

And as crazy as that sounds … it’s EVEN CRAZIER than we just made it sound!

WIlson, who lives and works in Wales, U.K., fell madly in love with her one-night stand, to the point where she came up with a truly epic fake pregnancy.

This was a long con if there ever were one. It even involved a real child!

After Wilson, 25, hooked up with Liam Griffiths, 31, she was smitten and rather crushed after he decided he wanted nothing to do with her post-shagging.

Well, she was conveniently at the hospital where she works as nurse, and even more conveniently carrying a friend’s baby, when she ran into  Griffiths again.

Like any sane person, she obviously told her former lover, who was visiting his grandfather in the hospital, that the child she held in her arms was HIS!

It gets better still. Wilson forged a birth certificate, and even managed to fabricate DNA test results to “prove” that the baby boy was indeed Griffiths’s son.

All of her medical training and hospital access really came in handy, no?

Upon receiving word that he had procreated, Griffiths’ family was thrilled, showering Wilson and her “son” with gifts and offering to help with whatever they needed.

Fast forward six months (!) and the house of cards ultimately collapsed.

After Griffiths proudly showed off his “son” in a Facebook photo, a real relative of the child called, demanding to know why he was posing with his cousing.

The boy’s real mother – who may have been conned as well into allowing Wilson access to the child for undetermined amounts of time – was notified.

Soon after that, she was arrested. The non-father later said in court:

“I am devastated to have lost a child that I thought was my son and had bonded with … we fell in love with him from the start and I am heartbroken to have lost him.”

Wilson, meanwhile, was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, although she served only 23 days and was ordered to take a “thinking course” upon release.

Yes, that is actually a thing over there.

You tell us, THGers: Was 23 days enough? Is that the single craziest fake pregnancy story you’ve ever heard? How did the real mom not get wind of this?
