On Friday evening, the world learned that Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson are over.
While it wasn’t the only Kardashian news at the end of the week, it was a big deal.
People immediately wondered why this hot-and-heavy relationship ended after nine months.
As it turns out, there wasn’t a big dramatic moment that caused their breakup.
Entertainment Tonight reports that “the spark between” Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson has simply “faded.”
According to the report, Kim still think that Pete is “so sweet.”
“But,” the report continued, “she didn’t feel ready for something serious with him.”
“They had tons of chemistry, and still do,” the inside source confirmed.
“But,” the insider explained, “she kind of wants to be single and date.”
After all, Kim was just married for nearly a decade, and had already been with Ye for years.
“Kim still adores Pete,” the source emphasized, “and will always be friends with him.”
The insider added: “She still thinks he’s the nicest and sweetest guy in the world.”
“And,” the source shared, “there’s no drama or anything weird between them now.”
“She felt like Pete was the extreme opposite of Kanye,” the report explained.
“And it was good for her then,” the insider praised.
“She initially thought it would be a fun fling,” the source detailed.
“But then,” the insider described, “it got more serious.”
The two found themselves in a place “when they were spending so much time together.”
The source added: “Kim wasn’t feeling like she was willing to settle down with him just yet.”
What is interesting here is that this report flies in the face of previous speculation.
As we know, Pete is filming a comedy in Australia with Orlando Bloom.
Some had wondered if the distance had caused the relationship to fall apart.
Instead, it sounds like almost the opposite.
They didn’t fizzle apart because they were on different continents.
The spark faded because the relationship was too intense, and Kim felt restless.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that the reports about the distance between them weren’t true.
Countless celebrity relationships have ended because of the schedules that both parties keep.
The realities of filming and running businesses as an influencer can mean that people don’t see each other for months.
People have joked that dating Pete is more of a status symbol than a relationship.
Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, Kaia Gerber, and Kim Kardashian have all given him a whirl.
Some of those pairings made more headlines than others. That’s life.
Clearly, Kim had imagined that he would be a fun rebound fling, but caught herself not wanting the fun to end.
Sometimes, that means that you’ve found your forever person. Not this time, however.
We should all remember that Pete is a real person with real feelings. Also, that he had her name branded onto his skin.
