Prince William may not be spending a lot of time with his brother these days, but it’s now been made official:

He’ll be spending an eternity alongside Kate Middleton.

Granted, this has been the case ever since The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got married in April 2011.

But now it’s legally true and literally true… because the Royal Family just immortalized Will and Kate via their first official portrait!

The parents of three confirmed this week that artwork of them standing side by side now resides at a museum in Cambridge.

William and Kate even helped unveil it on Wednesday, stopping by the attraction and posing for photographers in front of their portrait.

The piece (somehow the very first of its kind) was painted by award-winning British portrait artist Jamie Coreth.

“It has been the most extraordinary privilege of my life to be chosen to paint this picture,” Coreth said in a statement.

“I wanted to show Their Royal Highnesses in a manner where they appeared both relaxed and approachable, as well as elegant and dignified.”

He added:

“As it is the first portrait to depict them together, and specifically during their time as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, I wanted the image to evoke a feeling of balance between their public and private lives.

“The piece was commissioned as a gift for the people of Cambridgeshire, and I hope they will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed creating it.”

Coreth reportedly took inspiration from the couple’s 2020 visit to the Guinness Storehouse in Ireland, when Middleton wore a shimmering green dress and William donned a navy suit.

He changed up a little bit about how the couple looked at that appearance — but he managed to keep William’s disinterested face.

It’s also an odd decision to feature both halves of the married twosome staring off into the distance, as opposed to into each other’s eyes.

But it also makes sense, we suppose, when you consider how William and Kate have never really been known for their public displays of affection.

As mentioned above, meanwhile, there’s no affection these days between William and his brother.

Insiders say he barely spent time with Harry when the latter returned to the United Kingdom last month, while an insider recently told In Touch that William “doesn’t know who [Harry] is anymore and the trust between them is strained.”

“They’ll never recover from the damage that has been done,” said the source, referring specifically to some remarks Harry gave to Oprah Winfrey last year about his infamous family.

Behind closed doors, everyone is “bracing for a showdown,” the insider even added, in both exciting fashion and ominous fashion.
