Amie Harwick, a well-known sex therapist who also made headlines for having been engaged to comedian Drew Carey, was reportedly killed by an ex-boyfriend on Saturday morning.

She was 38 years old.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Harwick’s tragic passing in a press release.

This is what we can report based on said press release:

Authorities responded to a radio call of a woman screaming at 1:16 a.m. on Saturday and, when officers arrived, a male roommate told them in the street that Harwick was being assaulted inside her home.

The roommate said he jumped a wall and went to neighboring apartments to call for assistance.

Shortly afterward, police discovered Harwick on the ground beneath a third-story balcony.

She was unresponsive and “gravely injured” with “significant injuries consistent with a fall,” according to the press release.

The Los Angeles Fire Department transported Harwick to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries and passed away.

The police department said in the official statement that its investigation revealed possible evidence of a struggle between Harwick and her ex upstairs, as well as forced entry to Harwick’s residence.

They also have evidence that the ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse, entered the property and left after the incident.

It’s unclear at the moment just what this evidence is comprised of, however.

But the LAPD arrested Pursehouse on suspicion of murder at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police said Harwick previously had a restraining order against Pursehouse … but it expired.

She saw him two weeks prior to the tragedy and had “recently expressed fear” about him, according to this same press release.

Harwick, who received psychology degrees from California Polytechnic University and Pepperdine University, specialized in marriage, family and sex therapy, according to her website.

She appeared in the 2015 documentary "Addicted to Sexting" and authored the book "The New Sex Bible for Women" in 2014.

A former Playboy model, Harwaick started dating Carey in the middle of 2017 and got engaged to the Price is Right host in January 2018.

They broke up in November of that year.

We send our condolences to the friends, family members and loved ones of Amie Harwick.

May she rest in peace.
