Back in 2017, Meghan Markle's college yearbook photo surfaced online, and all over social media, heads exploded in shock and confusion.
Clearly, the internet's sharpest minds agreed, the royal family has been infiltrated by the undead, and the Duchess of Sussex is some sort of vampire-like creature.
How else to explain the fact that 38-year-old Meghan looks as though she hasn't aged a day since her early twenties?
Well, if Underclass Northwestern Meg blew your mind, prepare to have everything thought you knew about the human aging process undermined by the sight of High School Christmas Formal Meg.
The photo below shows Meghan at a school event with her first boyfriend ... when she was 16.
Despite appearances to the contrary, 2019 Meg has not been photoshopped into this image.
"16-year-old Meghan Markle posing with her first boyfriend Luis Segura at a high school Christmas dance in 1997," the pic was captioned on the Insagram page that found it.
We feel the need to offer a little perspective here, particularly for the sake of our younger readers.
This photo was taken in 1997.
Bill Clinton was in office; Chumbawumba and Hanson were topping the charts, and a little movie called Titanic had teens the world over swooning at the sight of a young Leonardo DiCaprio.
Was Meghan one of those teens?
We don't know -- but we do know that while the world is a very, very different place these days, she looks exactly the same as she did back then!
Of course, as several commenters on the pic pointed out -- there are two distinct factors in play here.
Yes, Meghan looks very young for her age these days, but she also looked mature and sophisticated well beyond her years when she was 16.
"How do u look that elegant at 16 like wtf," wrote one commenter.
And according to those who knew her best in those days, Meg's actions matched with her cultured appearance.
"She was also a very unusually compassionate person, and developed that compassion quite early in her life," Maria Pollia, Meghan's former theology teacher, recently told CNN.
Pollia also reflected on Meg's passion for social justice.
"This is something that I think really fuels her, her joy and her heart," she said.
"And I think it's wonderful to know that she is still that person and, and that now with her place in the world, she'll be able to do that even greater scale."
The odds of an LA teen become a member of the British Royal Family are about the same as winning the lottery while simultaneously being struck by lightning.
Perhaps that's one of the reasons that Meg is committed to using her newfound clout to change the world.
Meghan and Harry's recent trip to South Africa brought the world's attention to the struggling nation, and insiders say that's just the beginning of the couple's humanitarian efforts.
We guess Meghan's face isn't the only thing that hasn't changed -- all these years later, she's still willing to work hard and take risks in order to affect change for those in need.
