For many years on Pretty Little Liars, Shay Mitchell kept a mother lode of secrets from her family members and friends.
And now it’s sort of all come full circle for the actress…
… because she just became an actual mother!
On Sunday, the 32-year old star announced she and boyfriend Matte Babel welcomed their first child into the world, revealing next to nothing about the newborn.
No name, no measurements of any kind, no time or date on which the girl made her entrace into the universe.
But Mitchell did release a precious photo of the baby’s hands holding on to Mommy’s finger, an adorable snapshot that included a simple and very sweet caption.
“Never letting go,” Mitchell wrote alongside the photograph.
Mitchell, best known for having played Emily on Pretty Little Liars and then Peach on Season 1 of You, confirmed she was expecting in late June.
It was an especially emotional confirmation for the actress because she only just recently suffered a miscarriage.
“Although it was an amazing year, it didn’t come without some hardships,” the star wrote on her Instagram Story in January of 2019, adding at the time:
“We all have to deal with various struggles and challenges in life. And sometimes it’s easier to only showcase the good times on social media, which is what leads many people to criticize it for its lack of authenticity.
"Having so many people follow me on Instagram and read my posts is both incredibly humbling and incredibly uplifting.”
Five months later, Mitchell was able to share her amazing pregnancy news on Instagram and YouTube.
“There is something in the oven and it’s not my pizza!!! WOW … It’s kind of surreal processing the fact that another human is growing inside of you,” she wrote in the description for her two-minute announcement video.
Babel — a Canadian television star who started dating Mitchell in October 2018 — then praised his girlfriend in an Instagram post after her announcement, writing alongside a photo of her showing off her baby bump:
“The strength, vulnerability and grace you’ve had during this pregnancy has left me in awe, you’re going to be an incredible mom.
"We’re lucky to have you, love you.”
Such sweet words.
We’ll conclude here with a few more from the brand new mother herself.
“We’re beyond excited and looking forward to starting a family," Shay said this summer, concluding back then:
"I’ve learned so much about myself and parenthood over the past 6 months, and feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface! It’s going to be a wild ride!!”
Congratulations to Shay Mitchell!
