Folks, we regret to inform you that the internet is back on its bullsh-t today.
Years after the nude photo data dump obnoxiously known as "the Fappening," female celebrities are still subject to having their privacy violated in the most appalling ways imaginable.
And the latest victim is someone who's spent the past year enduring one hardship after another.
Yes, nude photos of Demi Lovato were posted on Snapchat this week after the singer's account was apparently hacked.
Snapchat's response team acted quickly, and the images were promptly deleted -- but not before thousands of fans were scandalized by what they saw.
Lovato has not yet responded to the incident, and it's possible the pics were just meticulously-edited fakes.
Whatever the case, the crime was unsettling, and it's our sincere hope that the perpetrators will swiftly be brought to justice.
Fortunately, it seems that the jackasses who did this left a paper trail.
“Join this discord server for my nudes,” read a message that appeared on Demi's account last night.
Users who swiped up were brought to an account identifying itself as “The Chuckling Squad.”
Both the page and the dozens of photos of Demi that were posted there have since been deleted.
Lovato's global network of devoted fans worked quickly to try and stem the spread of the illicit images.
"No one deserves to have their private pictures leaked and i don't care if you don't like her, this behavior is DISGUSTING so do NOT tweet and share. thank you," one fan accounted tweeted.
If you've been following the trajectory of Demi's career, you know that such a terrifying invasion of privacy could not have come at a worse time.
Just last year Lovato suffered an overdose that nearly claimed her life.
She's sober these days, but as every addict knows, each new hardship brings with it the threat of another relapse.
On top of all that, Demi lost a loved one this week when her friend Tommy T passed away from an overdose.
Obviously, no one wants to have their most sensitive information stolen and posted on the internet at any point in their life.
But it's especially painful to endure such a violation at what is already a tremendously difficult time,
We wish Demi all the best during this difficult time, and we hope she's taking solace in the support of her fans and loved ones.
