So Joy-Anna Duggar seems like a real sweetheart, right?
So sweet that even people who can’t stand the Duggars just can’t help but like her.

Of course, that may have to do with the tragedy she experienced this summer.
Just in case you missed that awful bit of news, Joy’s pregnancy came to a shocking end at the end of June — she was 20 weeks pregnant, and when she went in for an ultrasound they found out the baby’s heart was no longer beating.
A loss like that must be absolutely devastating in a way that you’d really only understand if you’ve been through it yourself.
But add in the fact that she’s only 21 years old, and also the fact that the Duggars don’t seem to place too much importance on caring for one’s mental health …

We just worry about her, that’s all, and we’re certainly not the only ones.
However, even though she’s so sweet and has gone through so much, that doesn’t mean she’s free from criticism.
And after she shared a series of photos yesterday on Instagram, she’s getting plenty of it.
See, Joy took two of her little sisters, Johanna and Jennifer, out yesterday for a late birthday celebration — Jennifer turned 10 a few weeks ago.

She brought along her 17-month-old son, Gideon, and they all went to ride some horses, get some treats, and just have a delightful little day.
But her followers noticed a few things when looking at the photos, the first being that she had Gideon on a horse with no helmet.
"Please wear a helmet!" one of her followers begged. "At the very least put one on the children."
Another person wrote "People DIE riding horses. Even kids. Riding horses outside of an area is especially dangerous. Horses are the world’s largest scaredy cats and even the gentlest horse can be set off by the littlest thing."
As someone else explained it, "falling from a horse or being thrown can be worse than an accident on a bike. Head injuries causing permanent brain damage can be avoided by simply wearing a helmet."
It’s clear that some people thought the helmet thing was a very big deal, but most of the people who commented focused on another picture — one where Gideon is shown to be in a forward-facing car seat.
"If she were in a crash internal decapitation could easily KILL her son," a follower pointed out.
"I did rear facing as long as possible with my little one," one person said. "It’s much safer. Better safe than sorry!"
Yet another commenter argued that "If I didn’t know the risks, I would hope someone would try and educate me as well. This isn’t about attacking her and never would be."
Of course, there were plenty of people defending Joy.
Some said that helmets weren’t a big deal and that armchair parenting is lame, others said that putting a one-year-old in a forward-facing seat isn’t illegal in Arkansas, so no big deal.
One darling soul that has obviously never had to install a car seat like this speculated that "Maybe she has him facing frontwards for the picture and then turn him around before driving."
Look, criticizing famous parents like this is something that so many people do, and a lot of times, it’s uncalled for.
But Gideon really is so, so little, and Joy is doing things that simply aren’t safe.
Hopefully she sees some of these comments and reconsiders, especially since none of them are being hateful, just critical.
We guess we’ll have to wait for more Instagram posts to see!
