We probably don't need to tell you that the members of the British Royal Family tend to favor the old school way of doing things.
These are people who still own scepters, crowns, and those long, wooly cape things, after all.
About once a month, we see some obsequious thinkpiece about how the younger members of the Windsor clan are dragging the institution kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.
But saying it's a slow process would be like saying Trump's visit to the UK last week was not exactly the social event of the year.
For all their efforts to embrace modernity, the Royals still value tradition and carefully maintained facades above all else.
Which may be why Kate Middleton is already making public appearances alongside her husband, just weeks after reports of Prince William's cheating rocked the royal family.
Kate and Will stood side-by-side at this week's Trooping the Colour ceremony, which as far as we can tell is an event to honor the military that's been given the most British name imaginable for the sake of confusing the rest of the world.
Anyway, it's not the couple's first public appearance since the reports of William sleeping with Rose Hanbury went public.
But the big smile on Kate's face sent a clear message to all those in attendance -- the cheating scandal is officially a thing of the past,
Of course, that doesn't mean she's been able to completely put it out of her mind:
“Kate finds the rumors hurtful, obviously, and hates the thought that one day her children will be able to read about them online,” one insider tells Us Weekly.
The source goes on to peddle some nonsense about how Will waving his royal staff all over town was actually a good thing:
"It forced her and William to sit back and examine their relationship, which they realized they should have been doing more often," the informant claims.
A second source -- whom we've dubbed Captain Obvious -- says news of her husband's infidelity “didn’t go down well with Kate,” but notes that the couple is “determined to pull through it and are doing a great job at getting their marriage back on track again.”
“It’s not unusual to have a few hiccups in a marriage, especially after eight years, and Kate and William are no different,” the insider says.
“They’re still going strong. Regardless of their ups and downs, they love each other dearly and their kids are the most important thing in their lives.”
Yeah, hiccups are one thing.
The whole world knowing your husband shagged your best mate is quite another.
But like we said, the Royals are all about tradition and appearances -- and Kate knows her role in this scenario is to keep quiet and stand by her man.
