Jim Edmonds hit 393 home runs over the course of a very impressive Major League Baseball career.
But the former outfielder swears - absolutely, positively, completely swears - that he did NOT round the bases with a woman named Jenn in the spring of 2018...
... when his wife was pregnant with the couple's twin boys.
In case you missed this original story, here is where we stand:
Late last week, All About the Tea reported that Jim had cheated on his wife, Meghan King Edmonds, a constant presence on The Real Housewives of Orange County until her resignation in 2017.
This website actually published very racy text messages between the ex-baseball player and the aforementioned Jenn person.
A source alleged that Jim had cheated on his second wife (Meghan is his third) back in 2014 with this same mistress -- and then contacted her just over a year ago to rekindle the cheating flame.
The source claims Jim and Jenn would meet up in various hotel rooms when Jim was traveling as a broadcaster, and also that he sent Jenn pictures of his penis.
Heck, the insider even says Jim sent Jenn a video of himself masturbating ON THE DAY MEGHAN GAVE BIRTH TO THE COUPLE'S SONS.
We're talking about some very lewd and inappropriate stuff here.
In response to the very scathing allegations, Edmonds has confessed that he had some sort of relationship with this lady. He has even confessed to sending the text messages.
But actual sex? Actual penetration? No way, he said after the article came out.
“Regrettably, I had a lapse in judgment. I engaged in an inappropriate conversation with this person,” he told Us Weekly, adding:
“At no time was there any type of relationship or physical contact. Absolutely none. This is someone trying to profit from my name. I am aware she has done this to others in the past...
“Clearly, I made a very poor decision to expose myself and my family to this type of person. For this, I am truly sorry and sought forgiveness from my wife."
Perhaps having seen all the ways he's been roasted online over the past few days, Edmonds has now issued a new statement.
“These are such false allegations, what a joke,” the retired baseball player said on Friday, reiterating to Us Weekly:
“It’s amazing what people can make up. This chick was mad at me for turning her down.”
That may be true.
We obviously can't say for certain.
But Edmonds has already admitted to sending this person some seriously effed up text messages while he was married, so he may wanna climb down off his high horse here.
“I did send the texts, which was wrong,” Jim tells this tabloid.
“But I never touched this girl or ever met her until... I met her once for one minute underneath the stadium in Atlanta to find out why she wanted to set me up and was threatening to say we had an affair.
"For no reason other than for me to give her money.”
Again, this may be true.
But Jim still needs to work on his marriage.
Meghan spoke of her devastation over the infidelity allegations in an emotional blog post on Friday.
“I don’t trust him anymore,” the Bravo star wrote in a post titled “I’m Sad," adding in more detail:
“Physical or not, he still had an affair and he admits this to me...
“I sob so much my face stings from the salt from my tears."
The couple got married in October of 2014.
Along with their one-year old twins, they are also parents of daughter Aspen, two, while Jim has four children from previous relationships too.
