Four years after the world learned that Josh Duggar molested five young girls -- four of whom were his sisters -- the crime remains very much on the minds of Counting On fans.
Josh is no longer featured on the show, of course, but his scandalous past looms over the wholesome facade of the series like a black storm cloud.
But while Josh's public image has certainly seen better days, he still enjoys the full support of his very forgiving family.
Anna Duggar celebrated a birthday this week, and for reasons that aren't entirely clear, she marked the occasion by paying tribute to her husband.
“Turned 31 years old today and I have so much to be thankful for!” Anna posted on Instagram.
“11 years ago today, I said, ‘Yes!’ to the man of my dreams!" she added.
"So grateful for God’s grace and redemption over our family! 5 beautiful, healthy and energetic growing kiddos and one more on the way!”
We never realized until just now that Anna got engaged on her birthday, a time at which most newly-minted 20-year-olds are probably blacking out behind a 7-11 somewhere.
Anyway, we've known for quite some time that Anna is 100 percent Team Josh, despite the fact that he molested his sisters and tried to cheat on her using the Ashley Madison website.
But apparently, not everyone in the family is so approving of the scandalous father of five:
“Love you sweet girl, you're brave, you are forgiving, a great momma, and stronger than I could ever be," Amy Duggar commented on Anna's post.
“Thank you! Love you so much!" Amy replied.
Clearly, Amy didn't detect any shade there, but it seems a lot of fans did.
It's all in the word "forgiving," which is being interpreted as Amy's subtle way of reminding the world of Josh's misdeeds.
Is it a leap? Probably.
Amy is pregnant with her first child at the same time that Anna is pregnant with her sixth, so it's possible that the cousins by marriage have simply bonded over being bump twins.
But if any Duggars were going to publicly trash Josh on social media, it would be Amy.
Commonly regarded as the most rebellious member of the Duggar clan, Amy doesn't kowtow to her Jim Bob the way her cousins do, and it's long been rumored that she has no love for Josh at all.
If this is her way of throwing shade, we applaud her subtlety -- but we wish she would just come right out and roast him openly.
