The Duggars have never been shy about expressing their political beliefs.
And given their fundamentalist worldview and obsession with procreation, it should come as no surprise that the entire family is vehemently anti-abortion.
It should also come as no surprise that they've been tirelessly promoting a controversial new movie that addresses the subject.
Unplanned tells the story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood employee who became an anti-abortion activist.
The film has been derided by critics as shameless and damaging propaganda, but that hasn't prevented the Duggars from singing its praises.
First, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard saw Unplanned and encouraged all of their social media followers to do the same.
Over the weekend, it was Jim Bob and Michelle's turn.
The couple posted a photo of themselves outside a movie theater, standing in front of a poster for the film.
"We went and saw the new movie Unplanned," the couple captioned the pic.
"It is the incredible life story of Abby Johnson. We highly recommend it for anyone that is 14 or older. It is amazing!"
The Duggars' endorsement of the deeply divisive film sparked an immediate response from fans.
"This movie sends a horrible message," one commenter wrote.
"Just because you wouldn’t get an abortion personally doesn’t mean everyone can’t have one."
"You guys are unbelievable for supporting incorrect information about something that is none of your business," wrote another.
"Honestly. Planned Parenthood does a lot more than just abortions," a third pointed out.
"Educate yourself. If a woman wants or needs to get an abortion that is HER choice. Since it is HER body.
"Let me ask this, would you prefer they get safe abortions or shove a clothes hanger up there and do the deed that way?"
Of course, this was a gathering of Duggar fans, so there were plenty who sided with Jim Bob and Michelle, as well.
"I'm taking my 13 [year] old!!!" one fan wrote in proud defiance of Jim Bob and Michelle's age restriction.
"With sex being so rampant in our society I want her to know all the lies society tries to make up and prepare her for what they try to make appealing."
"I just heard Twitter suspended the movie’s official account!" added another.
"Shameful act of censorship. We need to continue to speak out against the horrible bias against conservative causes."
It's unclear how this rumor originated, but a quick Twitter search reveals that the movie's official account is still active.
One of the major criticisms of Unplanned is that the movie tackles a serious topic and then fails to address it with the gravity it deserves, preferring instead to shock the senses and preach to the choir.
The Duggars' views on abortion are well known, and it's not terribly surprising that they would prefer this extremist approach to the conversation.
It is somewhat surprising, however, that anyone would bother trying to engage in a serious debate on a Duggar Instagram page.
