Unlike Colton Underwood's virginity, Cassie Randolph is no longer a major focus on The Bachelor this season.
For one very good reason, too:
Cassie Randolph is no longer part of The Bachelor this season at all. In any way, shape or form.
On Monday night's episode of this ABC reality show, Randolph heeded the advice of her father, who explained to Cassie that if she still had doubts about Colton, then come on...
... how could she think he was truly The One?
Cassie, to whom Underwood had already professed his love, realized this was an accurate assessment of her feelings.
So she sat down opposite Colton and tore his heart into a million pieces, ending her time on the series by choosing to walk away.
This promoted Colton to not only cry and curse -- but to actually run away from The Bachelor mansion, jump over the fence that outlines the property and disappear into the night.
Yes, The Bachelor vanished.
Will he return for the finale and select a wife?
Yes, of course.
Before that installment airs next Monday evening, however, Colton spoke to People Magazine about Randolph taking herself out of his running.
“I was shocked,” Underwood tells this publication. “I had no idea it was coming.”
Colton had shattered traditional show protocol by declaring his love for Randolph before the finale, yet the 23-year-old speech pathologist couldn’t reciprocate his feelings.
“It was right back into the trap of loving somebody who wasn’t quite there with me,” says Underwood, who was also saddened back when The Bachelorette’s Becca Kufrin sent him home during her season last year.
“It was very hard for me to hear.”
And it was very hard to some viewers to witness, as many Twitters users lashed out at Cassie for leading Colton on over the past few weeks.
In the end, “I just didn’t know where Cassie was at and I tried to get those answers," Colton says, paying no attention to the warnings other suitors had given him about Randolph and how she might pull this sort of stunt.
"In my opinion there were no red flags," he told People, concluding of where things go from here:
"You’ll see a very important conversation I have with Chris Harrison and with my dad that plays an important role moving forward. It’s definitely emotional."
On this emotional episode, Colton admitted he could see things working "forever" with Cassie, confessing openly:
"I feel like my whole life has been leading to tonight because I love Cassie. I want to be with Cassie. My heart is complete when I think of Cassie."
Now, tragically, both his heart and his bed remain empty.
The Bachelor Season 23 will conclude on Monday, March 11 at 8/7c, with millions of people around the country wondering: Will Underwood finally get off...
... his lonely pedestal of singledom?
