As you're probably aware, there's some bad blood between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.
In fact, Taylor wrote a song about the situation.
We think it's called "Shake It Off".
We'll fact-check that and get back to you.
Anyway, the situation has been simmering for years, but aside from diss tracks and the occasional subtle Twitter shade, it's rarely acknowledged in public by either party.
Which is what makes Katy's recent statement about how Taylor can get back in her good graces so surprising.
On Saturday, a fan tweeted to Katy asking if she would ever consider collaborating with Swift.
Perry's response was almost shockingly straightforward
"If she says sorry, sure!" the singer replied.
The beef between these two is certainly no secret.
Both parties have addressed it indirectly over the years, but never before has one of them come right out and discussed their ongoing head butting with in a public forum.
The closest we got was when Taylor talked about it in the abstract when she was asked about the person she wrote "Bad Blood" about.
“She did something so horrible,” Swift told Rolling Stone in 2014.
“I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business."
The singer added:
"She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”
Though she was never mentioned by name, Katy identified herself as the shade target shortly thereafter, tweeting:
“Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing.”
Swift has stuck by her story about the purloined backup dancers, but Katy says no such thing ever took place.
Many have pointed out that Perry and Swift both dated John Mayer, which may have played a role in their feud.
We might never know for sure what started the feud.
(Hell, at this point Katy and Taylor might not even remember.)
But now that Katy is openly discussing the conflict without song lyrics, memes or Mean Girls references, we're one step closer to finding out what tore these former friends apart.
Of course, that doesn't mean the diss tracks will come to and.
Sources say Katy's forthcoming album will feature at least one song about Taylor.
To be honest, we can't wait.
Our popcorn is ready.
