With a new photo of himself and long-suffering wife Anna posted on Facebook, Josh Duggar is slowly but surely returning to the spotlight.
Or at least some version of the public eye that isn't seclusion.
In honor of the 28-year-olds' eighth wedding anniversary, the family posted the photo of the (presumably?) happy couple on their official page:
Cute picture, by any estimation, and it's nice to see Anna smile.
Still, seeing the image is sure to conjure up feelings of rage and disdain among some Duggar fans, by virtue of the fact that Josh exists.
Whatever you think of him, and rumors that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are divorcing over how to best handle him, Josh is no outcast.
Going above and beyond to spread such a positive affirmation of their first-born, and his marriage, is as surefire a sign as you can find.
"Happy Anniversary, Josh and Anna," the family captioned it.
"We are so thankful for God's redemptive love in your lives."
Earlier this month, another Josh Duggar public appearance made headlines after he went to family gathering for a close friend's birthday.
He was seen in a (very large) group photo alongside his wife.
The couple has kept a low profile since Duggar returned home from rehab in late 2015, having spent nearly half a year away from Anna.
While those who watch Counting On online know that Anna has spoken about his scandals and their troubled marriage, he's been MIA.
Don't expect to see the controversial figure on camera again anytime soon, either, but the release of the above pic in itself says something.
It's their first image together since he became a pariah.
By now, we all know the events that rocked the family last year.
Josh entered a faith-based treatment center after he admitted to cheating on his wife and molesting his younger sisters when he was 14.
After completing his treatment, the Duggars said he would continue an out-patient program at home to “focus on rebuilding with his family.”
“Throughout this ordeal, Anna remained faithful to her husband,” the family said. “She continued to trust in God and be strong for her children.”
Josh and Anna - who stood by his side, for better or worse, are parents to Mackynzie, 6, Michael, 4, Marcus, 2, and Meredith, 14 months.
Despite reports that she might leave, or likely erroneous rumors that Josh Duggar is abusing Anna physically, their marriage is solid.
Or at least that's the impression they're trying hard to give off.
It's impossible to know what goes on behind closed doors.
Is Anna privately suffering and hating life while feeling like she has no other choice but to put on a happy face and stick with this loser?
Or is she genuinely happy to welcome him back into the fold and help him rebuild their marriage, believing that's the best thing ever?
Somewhere in between? We don't know, and may never.
All we can say for sure is that the Duggars aren't fully cutting ties with the first of their 19, sorry 20 Kids and Counting anytime soon.
