For months, we’ve been hearing that Kylie Jenner is planning to launch a music career with the help of her momager Kris Jenner and rapper boyfriend Tyga.
Of course, the music industry is unforgiving and wildly competitive, even for someone with a built-in fanbase like Kylie.
Perhaps that’s why sources say Kylie is taking her time with her transition from selfie queen to pop star.
Obviously, her reluctance is partially a result of the fact that most young starlets who record albums are met with poor reviews and even worse sales.
But in Kylie’s case there’s even more cause for concern, as she’s not just trying to be the next Katy Perry as was initially reported. Instead, she’s trying to be the next Nicki Minaj.
A source tells In Touch that Kylie “has always been into rap music," and her upcoming debut album will be a strictly hip hop affair.
“Kylie has been in the studio the last couple of months with [her rapper boyfriend] Tyga recording her first song,” says the insider. “She plans to debut the single on her app.
“She eventually wants to record a whole album and top the charts."
Kylie’s made no secret of her love for hip hop, and she’s been lip syncing to rap tracks on Instagram and appearing in her boyfriend’s music videos in recent months.
Most recently, Kylie played a zombie in Tyga’s "Dope’d Up" video. Here’s hoping her rapping is better than her acting.
