Sean Lowe has some words for Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth if they want to make it to the altar, and his advice is profound in its simplicity:
WORK it.
Lowe, who married Catherine Giudici after getting engaged on The Bachelor, encouraged Kaitlyn and Shawn to go outside the smoke and mirrors.
"This is the most important piece of advice I know of. If you truly want to spend the rest of your lives together, you must commit," Lowe said.
"To loving your partner no matter the circumstances. Commit to living in the same city, and commit to building a healthy relationship."
"Commit to sticking together through hard times, and commit to showing your partner how much you love them each and every day."
Catherine and Sean Lowe on Celebrity Wife Swap notwithstanding, they have stayed out of the spotlight, and in tune with each other.
"Every relationship takes work, especially relationships formed on TV!" Lowe writes on his personal blog, drawing on his own journey.
"I remember the few months between filming and the last episode of my season when Catherine and I had to keep our relationship a secret."
"Everything was so exciting. We were in love and we couldn’t imagine having hard times or experiencing any issues that might endanger that."
"That naiveté wore off pretty quickly once we were thrust into the real world. Your relationship is going to run into issues both big and small."
"It’s imperative that you find a way to work through them."
Are the latest lovebirds up to the task?
Kaitlyn Bristowe and Booth have already been accused of faking their engagement, which is likely a bit of a stretch on the tabloids’ part.
That tabloid hype, plus being in the spotlight is dangerous, though, Sean says, because if you buy into it, it can change who you are.
"Despite the attention you receive, the talk shows you’re on, or the money you’re offered, you’re still just a normal person," Lowe said.
"I’ve heard firsthand from a couple of different bachelors how being in the spotlight ended up being detrimental to their relationship."
"Don’t let the ‘fame’ stuff go to your head," said the "Virgin Bachelor," who hopes the couple "pursue God" and lean on their faith.
He also raised an interesting point "Kaitlyn’s been in the driver’s seat and that can easily make the relationship feel one sided."
"Kaitlyn should make sure Shawn knows how much she would fight for his affection, as well, if the roles were reversed."
