The Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson reportedly had a Mother’s Day meltdown after a new RHOC commercial aired.
On Mother’s Day, Bravo previewed the upcoming 10th season of the series in a commercial ending with a scene of Gunvalson in hysterics on the phone.
Normally, this wouldn’t be very shocking. In fact, if you watch The Real Housewives of Orange County online at all it’s likely due to Vicki’s breakdowns.
But that scene is actually footage of Vicki receiving the dreaded phone call that her mother, Joan Steinmetz, had died; she collapses onto the floor.
For the first time, we actually feel really bad for Vicki.
Seeing the commercial would be hard for Vicki no matter what. But seeing herself react to her mother’s death on Mother’s Day?!?! It’s too much.
Vicki took to Twitter to express her sadness. She tweeted that "it was the most terrible thing to have to re-live again … Especially on Mother’s Day.”
On February 4, Vicki, in a heartfelt Instagram caption, wrote about her mother’s passing: "I received a phone call that is every person’s worst nightmare."
"My amazing, beautiful and strong mother passed on and is now with the love of her life my father in heaven. I am who I am today, because of her.”
She added, “An amazing cook, organized, bold personality and had a sense of style and fashion that I adored. I miss you so much mommy!"
"My life will never be the same without you to give me advice and your wisdom. You were so healthy and so vibrant and so beautiful. I still need you. I love you MOM.”
It’s been a tough year for Vicki in more than one respect. In October, Gunvalson’s on-and-off again boyfriend Brooks Ayers was diagnosed with cancer.
