If, as widely expected, TLC cancels 19 Kids and Counting in the wake of the Josh Duggar scandal, the network might have a replacement family.
An Illinois couple that has been married for 59 years said their first hello to their 100th grandchild. Yes, you read that correctly. 100th!
Leo and Ruth Zanger welcomed grandbaby number 100 on April 8, when their great-grandson Jaxton Leo was born.
Mr. and Mrs. Zanger have 12 children of their own, and they are grandparents to 53 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
"The good Lord has just kept sending them. We could start our own town," Leo said to the Quincy Herald-Whig.
Ruth said, "There’s always room for one more!”
Believe it or not, they have full-family gatherings, with all 100 kids, the parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and more. They have to rent out a church hall when the family is in town.
Donna Lane, Leo and Ruth’s daughter, is in charge of the family gathering logistics.
Donna said,"(Other family members) always say, ‘Since you already have all of the phone numbers, can you just text (or call) them and let them know about whatever the event is?"
"Everyone takes their turn (in helping with food), and they all try and outdo each other. We are always getting together for something,” she added.
The family tries to see each other as much as possible. But they make special efforts to see each other for the mandatory holidays: Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day.
Daniel Zanger, baby Jaxton’s dad, stated, "It’s a very busy family, and we enjoy being around each other. There’s never a dull moment."
