On Sister Wives Season 5 Episode 19, Meri made a surprise announcement that immediately sent shock waves through the Brown family like never before.
What was it? And how did the family respond to this bombshell?
When Sister Wives Season 5 Episode 19 got underway, the shocking truth behind Meri’s divorce from Kody was finally revealed on the season finale.
The much-talked-about Sister Wives divorce was, of course, sort of a loophole move to help the family unit as a whole. But there's more to it than that.
On the finale, fans watched Meri, Kody Brown’s first and only legal wife, seek out a lawyer to discuss the possibility of divorcing the long-haired wonder.
“Robyn has three kids form her previous marriage that we have wanted to get adopted by Kody,” Meri said, and to do that, she must legally wed Kody.
“I’m not going to lie, it is a little bit scary for me doing this divorce. And having it really be for nothing as far as the possibility of not being able to adopt the kids.”
That's right, it's no guarantee that it will go down the way they want even with the divorce, as you'll see when you sit down to watch Sister Wives online.
Because polygamy is “looked down upon," as “a questionable choice of how to organize your family,” she doubted they would be granted the adopton.
Still, it was a chance she was willing to take, and it was her idea. While Robyn was smitten with Meri’s proposed, selfless move, Kody wasn’t so sure.
She assured him that it would never have entered her mind had it not been for Robyn's children, but it's still complicated. Just ask Janelle and Christine.
Unlike Christine, Janelle was a little skeptical of how this would affect their family. Janelle continued to explain she’s “never been so great with change.”
This certainly constitutes a pretty big one, we have to give her that.
“I don’t know what I’m in for,” she said. “I’m worried it changes the dynamic. I know it’s irrational, [but] I’m worried somehow this would have you favor Robyn."
Polygamy problems FTW. In spite of their hesitations, the episode then concluded with Meri, Robyn and Kody in their lawyer 's office to finalize the divorce.
“We’re actually doing this. Right here. right now,” Meri said, emotionally.
What did the Browns have to say about all this, given the passage of time since the episode was filmed? Has it all turned out the way they'd hoped?
