The last time we heard from Amanda Bynes, it seemed that things were starting to turn around for the troubled former child star.
Bynes was planning to enroll at USC, and she appeared to be back on her meds and committed to undoing the damage of her latest meltdown.
Now, however, it looks as though Amanda's past legal troubles may be coming back to haunt her.
TMZ is reporting that Bynes could be facing jail time as the result of a probation violation.
Bynes was arrested for DUI back in September, and she was found to have a low level of the prescription drug Adderall in her system.
The good news is, the Los Angeles city attorney has decided not to attempt to prosecute Amanda.
The bad news is, he'll turn the case over to the DA, who may recommend that Amanda be locked up for violating her probation stemming from a 2012 DUI arrest.
The city attorney is passing up the case due to the small amount of Adderall in Amanda's system. However, under the terms of her probation, any drug use could be enough to land Bynes behind bars.
Ironically, in this case, Amanda's mental health issues could work to her benefit, as it's unlikely that the DA will seek jail time if she's receiving proper psychiatric care.
If she abandons her treatment, however, (as she's been known to do) Bynes could find herself in some serious trouble.
