For the first time since being sentenced to 15 months in prison for various kinds of financial fraud, Teresa Giudice has spoken out about her frightening future.
With Bravo cameras rolling, of course.
For a special taped interview that will air tonight, Giudice was asked by Andy Cohen for her reaction to the punishment, holding the hand of husband Joe Giudice as she searched for the proper words as a response.
"I was so nervous yesterday that I was shaking,” Teresa told Cohen.
“My nerves were pulling. At one point, I couldn’t move my fingers. They were stuck. I couldn’t open my hands. My nerves were shot. I’ve had sleepless nights. I, of course, I was shocked."
"It was very unexpected. I don’t even know what to say."
On Friday, after Joe Giudice was sentenced to 41 months behind bars, a New Jersey judge said she had to make an "example" out of Teresa, surprising many who believed The Real Housewives of New Jersey law breaker would avoid jail altogether.
Giudice will begin her prison term on January 5. And she's very worried about abandoning her four daughters.
"My husband is a great father, a great husband, but I do everything with my daughters,” she said.
“I’m the one that’s hands-on. All I’ve said to my husband was ‘Please take care of our daughters, that’s all I ask. You’ve gotta do what I do."
The four girls range in age from 5 to 13, with Teresa saying that the oldest, Gia Giudice, is well aware of what's going on and has vowed to grow up quickly as a result.
"She said it’s going to be okay,” Teresa noted of Gia’s reaction. “She was being strong for me, I could tell. She said ‘Mommy don’t worry about it. I’ll be there."
"I’ll help Daddy with the girls.’ She said ‘That’ll make me a better mom. That’ll prepare me for when I’m a mom.’ Oh my god, it broke my heart when she said that."
"She said the one person she was worried about was me."
This special Watch What Happens Live episode airs on tonight at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
