As the Amanda Bynes shoplifting video confirmed this morning, the former child star is in serious need of an intervention.

Ever since Bynes got arrested for DUI two weeks ago, her behavior has grown increasingly bizarre, and friends and family are justifiably concerned.

Sources say Amanda’s mom is making an emergency trip to New York in hopes of convincing her daughter to enter rehab or return to California to move back in with her folks. Sadly, Amanda is having none of that idea.

“Amanda is adamant about not returning to Los Angeles because she is fearful her parents will try to get a conservatorship again,” a friend of Bynes’ claims.

“She loves New York, and sees absolutely no reason to leave again.”

Of course, if Amanda continues to have run-ins with the law, she may not have a choice. Bynes was caught shoplifting twice in one day, and while neither of the businesses involved pressed charges, she likely won’t get so lucky again.

If her parents can prove that Amanda is a threat to herself or others, then they’ll likely be able to get a judge to place the 28-year-old under their care.

Another arrest ought to do the trick, and Amanda doesn’t seem to be making much of an effort to stay out of trouble.

Meanwhile, her parents are said to have finally realized that their daughter desperately needs help.

“They used to insist that Amanda just had an addiction to marijuana and they were just going to let her deal with it on her own,” says one insider. “They were in denial for a very long time.”
