Chris Soules has been confirmed as The Bachelor for the 2015 season - this time by the show and not just The Bachelor spoilers that leaked weeks ago.
We've known for a long time that the network named Chris Soules The Bachelor, but it hasn't been officially announced by his employers until today.
Team Chris all the way! Fire up the tractor and let's do this thing, ABC!
Arie Luyendyk Jr., the other former Bachelorette cast member hunk in the running for the job, even said late Monday that he was out of the running.
"I'm not the Bachelor," Luyendyk wrote. "Have fun on the farm people."
Soules, an Iowa farmer, will be bringing the franchise to the heartland.
A Bachelorette fan favorite on Andi Dorfman's recently concluded season, he finished third after the leading lady did not invite him to the Fantasy Suite.
Although it wasn't announced then, fans chanted his name during the live Bachelorette finale when Chris Harrison was asked about the next Bachelor.
The gig was Chris' to lose, pretty much. And he opted to take it.
Luyendyk finished second on Emily Maynard's Bachelorette season in 2012, and was reportedly considered for The Bachelor, along with 2014 runner-up Nick Viall.
Despite losing to Soules, Arie thanked fans "kind words" and support. "It wasn't meant to be, and I'm okay with it," Luyendyk said. "Happy I can move forward."
Fans can look forward to the new season, and judging by our poll results below, we don't expect there will be many up in arms over the casting of Chris.
