Samantha Harris is safe and in seemingly good spirits after undergoing a double mastectomy this week.

The former Dancing with the Stars co-host, who opened up in April after her breast cancer diagnosis, Tweeted an update to fans today that included a note of gratitude for her doctors.

“Made it thru grueling double mastectomy #surgery. Thanks to all of my amazing surgical team,” Harris wrote online.

She also joked about her the surgical lines on her chest, referring to the scars as “art.”

Harris found a lump in her right breast in a routine self-examination last fall.

She has two daughters – Josselyn, 6, and Hillary, 3 – and said she and her husband struggled with how to break the news to them.

“The day we found out while it was still fresh in our minds, we made a video,” Harris said. “I don’t know if we’ll end up showing it to them, but at least we have the option
